Borat creator Sacha Baron Cohen has been punched by a man he joked with on a New York street.
Cohen approched the man and said in the style of his spoof Kazakh alter ego: "I like your clothings. Are nice! Please may I buying? I want have sex with it."
According to reports, the man punched Cohen repeatedly in the face.
A friend said: "Sacha couldn't resist playing the fool as Borat, but picked on the wrong person.
"I guess this guy thought he was being attacked by someone unstable and lashed out. Sacha is very lucky he didn't get a much worse beating."
Cohen did not receive any lasting scars but he is said to be shaken up.

@ Mike, yes those people must have already been racist/homophobic, but to get them drunk to reveal is was not necessary IMO. most of the subjects reveal everything anyway, just in reaction to Borat's comments, so underhandedly getting them to say things is not right.

Cohen took a huge risk by going to New York to do filming there as Borat, and it was inevitably going to bite him sometime. Some people were very threatening to him on the subway trains and on the street but I'm sure he took it all in his stride.
Anyway, the film roped in multiple millions (and stayed at the top of the box office) this week and last week, so getting punched in the face isn't so bad when you end up filthy rich out of it.

Borat is both clever and original, and the real genius is not that he is anti-Semitic, but that he reveals underlying racism in many everyday people

just wait till the Bruno movie is released, he takes it even further, and no doubt there will be an even larger uproar against it because he discusses homosexual acts in nearly every interview he does.

just come back from seeing it, didn't think it was that good.
it was funny in places, but i think the concept works best as 2 or 3 minute sketches, and not as a full length film.
the naked fight was truly horrific though, that fat man is disgusting! yuck!!
and it must have been those boys on the bus who sued because they were told it wouldn't be shown in the USA.

after looking more into this borat twit i have come to the conclusing that he is funny for people aged up to 14. if you're 15/16+ then you have a very immature sence of humour.
