Catalyst Control Center works fine with Vista. It's the lack of OpenGL support that's annoying ATI owners currently.
Creative suck frankly. I doubt we'll ever see decent drivers for the Audigy range. Knowing Creative, I'm not even 100% convinced we'll see full drivers for XFI to be honest...
The world isn't ready for Vista in my opinion, though it's still the problem of 3rd parties. The product MS has put out is pretty much spot-on in my experience. It's on the verge of RTM, but I can't see myself being as happy with Vista as I am currently with XP until perhaps next summer. There's still too many little issues, some of which I'll mention here:
- Nero 7 doesn't work (7.5.70 might, haven't checked). Nero 7 Lite does, but that's not what most want.
- No decent anti-virus. Companies such as NOD32 have BETA products out, but that's it.
- Defrag software is limited at best - quite an issue in the corporate sector.
- Java support is still flaky (Sun's is still in BETA)
- Many game installers can't understand the file structure in Vista, and struggle without full admin rights
- Driver support is still extremely poor
You can use Vista as your only OS, and there's normally ways to get everything going, but it's quite a pain at the moment. Basically, as far as I'm concerned, the pro's don't have enough support to get the most out of them, and the cons are just too big.
