Are CHamp Car(CART) and Indy Racing league same?

Why do they also have same teams in both IRL ANd champ car?
for example:Cart season champions for year 2001 was Gil De Ferran for Team penske, but they are in IRL now.!

i thought the split happend in 1996...

anyway basicly tony - @#$%& - george whom co-ran Indycar with others, split into IRL and has killed American Open wheel racing, looks like there coming back together at present tho, if true it would simply be AWSOME, but i dont think tony george will... he is a dick

cant run indy 500 if cart dont go there... thats IF IRL folded though

after cart left in 95 it kind of
cheapened the indy 500 imo.You started
getting indy winners who would have been
mid pack runners before

why should they?

Tony George cheepend the whole race, dosent mean what it once did.

George did cheapen it since 96 many of

the winners would have been mid pack or

worse.But it's still a big name race

In the few years before the big CART teams moved over, drivers such as Montoya would enter the Indy 500 and beat the normal IRL teams hands down.

Due to the voting system in Germany, Governments are always made up of coalitions of different parties. At the last election, an almost unprecidented result saw the CDU/CSU (rough equivilant of the Conservatives) go into Government with the SPD (rough equivilant of Labour)

CART IMO is better that IRL because they race for the most part on street/circuit tracks as well as ovals.

Though Mansell proved the point in 1993. Had the best car in 1992, and 1993 in IRL, and beat the lot of them hands down, though he had a massive crash at Phoenix where he pushed the car further than he should have. He'd have won the Indy 500 had he had more experience with the yellow flag situation, and he had won the IRL crown before Prost claimed the 1993 F1 title, thereby can claim to have held the F1 and IRL titles simultaneously. Nobody else has done that.
