that rapid bonus thing is bollox really. why pay for only 9 months cover to get 1 more year of no-claims 3 months earlier than you would anyway, when you could get a 12-month premium for not much more than the 9 month one? if they quote you for 9 months, always ask them what it would be for 12 months too, so you can compare their offer with others.

i did my first 2 years on my mums insurance, 1st year was £1400, 2nd year was £1100 (bith on a Rover Metro 1.3 Sport), then when i got the Escort i went on my own policy, and it was about £1050, then the following year it was £877, and now just a few weeks ago got it down to £568, and have 3 years no-claims bonus on my name so far.

all should be better next birthday though, when i turn 25 (my policy starts/expires on my b'day).

Norwich Union had a renewal quote of £692, so i ended us saving £130 on them by ringing around. i rung about 35 compannies. it comes down a lot too year-to-year in the first few years since you pass, as long as you don't crash.

plus the modifications on my car hinder me a bit, as many say they won't quote due to me being under 25, and those that do quote, come out with outrageous figures like £6000.

but that Pass Plus thing is worth doing, its only valid for 1 year from the dat eyou passed though, so do it quick.

an advanced driver course is also worth doing to bring your premiums down.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

£160 for 12 months. :D
£15 12 months tax. :D
£0 per week for petrol (rounded down). :D

Get a bike. If you survive the winter (obviously not much of a concern down under), you're laughing. I'm not even a biker - I'm a car guy who has a bike. The only reason I've considered getting a car is the winter.

I don't think you can carry a guitar and amps on a bike though ;-)

Im taking my test this year, and my Mom has said she will buy me my first car (or helpp out - but basically she's buying me a car). My uncles know tons of people who work with cars and stuff so they can help find me a cheap, decent one. Im looking to get something like this
So im a happy bunny. Plus, im getting my insurance on my moms one so that'll bring the price down :)

I'm with AAMI, it was about 1k a year for me, comprehensive.

That was like 30% off tho cos I've been in dad's name ever since I was 16 so I have a 3 year clean record with them, it goes down 10% more a year till a maximum of 60% off, which is coooool.

What I need to do is find an area of Aus that all the ladies will be like "ooo (swoon) a british accent!" but cos EVERYONE goes to aus on gap years, I need to find somewhere not obvious. But not backward either - I went to uni in Wales for Christsakes, I've seen enough of that :/

In that case, its gonna have to be the USA for me then :p

I figure I need to go to somewhere not too cosmopolitan, maybe San Diego. Or something. Maybe the midwest ( (8) the midwest farmers daughters, yeah they make me feel alright (8) ).

try NZ or canada, they're the 2 countries that are always ignored cos they've got a better country right next to them ;)

CANADA?!

NO! NO! NO! I hate canadians. Tey have wierd split heads. Maybe that's just southpark. Oh and also they say "ooot" instead of "out" (owt) - like scots do. Which is weird.

Also NZ - cool accent. But uber small man syndrome from every NZlander I've met. All quite angry. And dislike australians too. I can see why ;)

My insurance is under my Mum and Dads name. It comes to about £500 Fully comp for a 1.2 97 Renault Clio. Although I have a excess of £700 to pay if I crash it :o The car isn't worth much more than that :s
