So.. ive been looking all day to find a good mp3 player and i've finaly come to decide i wanna buy this little baby. only problem is that i have no experience whatsoever from mp3 players, so mostly my decision is based on reviews and a few tips from a couple of friends. So i was wondering if anyone here knows a few things that could help out. Basicaly i need a big enough player (20gigs or more) and also looking to be able to plug it into any stand alone stereo with RCA or mini jacks (if possible) So any other suggestions? Also comments from those who already have a zen touch would realy be nice. Thanks in advance for any help

You can get a mini jack to dual-RCA cable for pretty cheap. I use one with my iPod and my Roland keyboard amplifier and it works great.

I have the 20GB Zen Touch. The touch part can be a bit annoying as the control area is rather sensitive, even on the lowest settings. But you can get used to it in a couple of days. 20GB is a truckload of storage space, so unless you want to use it to transport huge files too, you won't need much more.

The sound quality is excellent, but the pseudo-leather carrying bag can be annoying since you cannot access the buttons on the player, while it is there. Hence you need to pull the player from the bag, unlock it and make your selections, then lock it and put it back. There is a random button on the front panel that loads everything on the player in "random". Some probably like this, but I don't as I forget to lock the player and quite often hit this button. The Deluxe version has a better bag, but you can also sort these problems by getting a set of earplugs that have a remote control unit on the cord.

While I might seem to post mostly negative about the Zen Touch, have no doubt. I love it, use it every day and could not live without it. It's definately one of the best investments I have made in 2005.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

I might have to take it with me for jogging (tho its not something ill be able to do much for at least another year, due to many idfferent obligations) but ive heard it tends to just "lock" so you have to reset. Is that true? Like i said its not a priority, just would be good to know b4 i get it. OH, and also will i be able to connect it using minijack with my logitech z-5500 speakers? (the control pannel has one input for that reason..). Oh and Morbid so im guessing that overall its a thumbs up from you? (omg... i cant stop :P questions just keep comin like porn popups using IE)

From what i understand the Touch is the same as the Zen with extra buttons on the front (Mine are located on the side, and therefore can be used whilst in the leather pouch thing). Mine has only locked when a corrupt file was played. I didnt check it before putting it on, but when checked it didnt play in WMP or winamp either. Other than that it hasnt crashed for me that i can remember

i got one before christmas and have to say im more than pleased with buying one.

yes the touch pad is a little annoying but after a few days it does get easier (i wish it had a better sort of scroller wheel or something though)

adding and removing songs is a doddle, and i recomment getting a silicon cover personally, having looked at my brothers his is looking shabby.

mine locks up if u give it a sharp knock. I've sprinted for buses and trains with mine and it was fine. It also survived a tumble down some concrete stairs... I like the look of the Zen sleek... basically a better looking Zen Touch I think
