Surely if it had sank in only 5 mins then we would have known a few days after that event, not now.

LS's Tip of the week
ESSENTIAL OILS aren't essential unless you're an engine, a gearbox or a twat
Indeed, and how would they have ever got those 600 people into the lifeboatds in 5 minutes.

I rather feel that the movie wasn't exactly a true-to-life re-enactment of the event either... it's a freaking love story, not some minute-by-minute account in documentary form.
well if it was it would be more entertaining

But didn't most of the survivors say it sank after an hour or so.

Survivor's opinions can differ massively in a very "disturbed" situation. Someone survivors said it didnt split into any pieces at all.

The 3 pieces rather than two has been known for quite a while though, the third piece is the engine room which they raised part of a couple of years ago.

Why many people keeping saying it is a maiden voyage?

It is not! It was originally built in Belfast and it was launched from there to Liverpool (HQ of the Titanic's owners)

it didnt go to liverpool, it went to southampton.
anyway, it would be impossable to launch the lifeboats in 5 mins. look at the Lusitania sinking she took only 18 minuits to sink and only 2 lifeboats were launched succesfully
