is it not true though?

there's 3 types of heat transfer: conduction, convection and radiation.

i assume you all know what they all mean, so isn't it more appropriate to call them 'convectors'?

no, please explain to me how they are 'radiators' and not 'convectors'. i don't care if i'm totally wrong about it, but i want to know why.

i have no idea why they are called radiators, probably dating back to the days of cast-iron *ahem* radiators

you're absolutely right that the primary way of heating is convection but there is usually a bit of radiation involved

a bit of reading for the interested

Just thought I'd point out we don't have any fancy ass underfloor heating system here - radiators all the way (you can just see it at the side of my chair here [homepages.nildram.co.uk])

The pipes are just the plumbing for the central heating, and the boilers downstairs under this room, and the hot water tank right next to this room, so when dad changed a load of the plumbing he put the valves under this floor - wish he'd put them elsewhere though :P

The heating broke in the middle of winter in my house a couple of years ago, was bastard freezing.
one good thing was I had a GPL race at the Ring with UKLRS and it definately added to the atmosphere ;)
