Frickin iPod Shuffle!!!!

Hey guys, you may remember a few weeks ago i was musing buyingt an ipod for the lady.

well i got one, put music on it and oooh look at this, it doesnt play anything! Really great!

ANyone had simular trouble?

you're using the right file type? (.m4a, mp3) its charged?

yip, done all the troubleshooting checks.

its charged, the tracks were burnt off a cd so are in the aac format i presume.

aac format? Wtf is that? Its an MP3 Player, i assume you tried an MP3 on it?

Edit: ok aac is MPEG-2 Advanced Audio Coding File.

MPEG2? Am i right in thinking that this is even older than MP3 format? If your ripping CDs then why not just stick it in WMP10, select MP3 and rip it as that? Whats the need in AAC format?

aac is an ipod type dude! I think its not used as much anymore tho.

Sounds completelty and utterly useless. Its an MP3 Player, put some MP3s on it and then press play.

This is one reason why MP3 players should come with a screen. So you know whats going on.

I just bought an iPod Video and all i do is export the mp3 (music) and mp4 (video) files using iTunes and away i go, simple

Dunno why ur using .aac or whatever, as Dave said - its an MP3 player!

.aac uses less space than mp3 so u can get more songs on the apple player, aac should work fine, it's what i use with my ipod mini

those new ipod videos are so great! I was in the regent street apple store today, my gosh its abig screen for a portable player! Also really light and thin!

Battery life is pretty good for me.
Tested the battery and got 4hr 23 mins of constant gaming of Wipeout Pure and GTA: Liberty Cities from a full charge.
Havent tested it just listening to mp3's/watching videos yet though.....its pretty portable IMO but i guess it depends on the person.
I wear a suit to Sixth Form [its the uniform] and it can fit in the inner pocket quite easily allowing me to listen to music on the go.

....no it wont hold 60GB...but will an iPod go on Internet, Play Ridge racers on the go, watch an episode of Family Guy and play mp3's all in one
PSP isnt the best protable device due to Sony being bastard over the memory..that said Flash memory is expensive....i dont think PSP is supposed to be an iPod Killer anyway rather a portable media device killer like the Creative one..forgot the name.

um, tbh, this is apples and oranges

One is designed for the net and games. The other is deisnged for massive ammounts of videos and MP3s. You can throw in a phone now too, which does net access and phone calls, videos, games AND MP3s, so why dont we just all buy uber phones?

PSP and MP3 players are not comparable to anyone who wants a decent ammount of music and the highest quality sound.

And tbh, its not really small is it?



That to me isnt portable size. A large iPod/Zen with the 60Gb drives is as big as a portable device should realisticly be. Carrying a PSP about really has to be like putting an x-box in your pocket.

i like my laptop, it can't fit in my pocket buts its under 1.5 kg, its got 100gb and i can search up pr0n ! lol jk

i did a systemn restore and formatted the thing and started again. works ok now. nice bit of kit.

i think itunes is a bit w*nk though, at the moment, the only way i can seem to get THE TUNES I WANT on it, i have to copy them into a separte playlist and take them from there. If not it just does an Autofill and scoops out any old junk from my pc.

What's with the annoying continual name swapping? That's got to be more annoying to newbies than seeing twins leaving you for a millionaire grandad.

With I tunes you have to make new playlists -eg to make a mix cd. Basically a shuffle is like making a mix cd right?

I hate the old 60gb ipods, horrible size. But those new ipods! Geez. Amazing looking, and the menus etc are as nice as ever. Just need a radio in there next gen, please!
