iPod Shuffle - is it worth getting?

Hi guys,

what are your experience with these? I am gonna get one for my girlfriend for crimbo but have read a few dodgy reviews. She couldnt possibly just have an MP3 player, oh no, has to be an iPod!!! Women!

So, as the Shuffle 512MB is the cheapest one around and the better value 1GB version is sold out EVERYWHERE i wanna know what im buying.

Im mainly concerned about teh battery life. i hear it dies rapidly. and the fact that i have to buy a power adapter separatley makes my blood boil!

Any thoughts? (Helpful ones only please)

Its the best looking small capacity player around. Its also quite good value. Major downside is no screen, which is silly imo, since for the same or less money you can get non apple small capacity players with a screen.

I'd get one for the looks, but not the functionality. There are much better players on the market for less money, but they just don't look as nice.

you need something with a screen! unless you can recognize all songs immeadiately

I have a Shuffle myself, and I've yet to find a bad thing about it. The battery life is good, it's easy to use and adding/removing songs is a breeze. It's as small as a pack of chewing gum, yet the buttons can easily be used by the chunkiest of fingers

The only thing some people might consider "bad" about it is the fact that there's no screen on it. That doesn't bother me, as I hardly ever look at the screen anyway when listening. It's perfect for those who like a random playlist

Surely you could buy like, another small ipod product and just turn on the random function...?

What if you really want to listen to a certain song and it simply won't come up?

it has a play in order function aswell. Whoooooopeee!

surely you could sort the list when u add the songs from ur pc, then u kinda remember the list u like as is in ur own pc media player for example...
