I am a movie junkie who looks forward to the summer and holiday season. What movies are you guys looking most forward to? Any you have seen in the last few weeks that you loved/hated?

I am now looking most forward to see Peter Jackson's "King Kong." 3 hours long and every preview I have seen looks awesome.

I saw Saw 2 the other day, it's not nearly as good as Saw 1 :(

King Kong doesn't look too bad, but i'm not sure how much fresh stuff they could add to that story!

I can't wait until the premiere of Kong, I won't camp out like some people did but I will be there early!

Also looking forward to Harry Potter 4...

The 4th HP is alright, I went to see it y/day but I'd say it's better if you haven't read the book first :)

The new Kong film looks good enough to go and see (the mere fact that Jack Black is making an appearance sells it for me), and yeah the fourth Harry Potter film was good - I make a point of not reading the books so that I'm never disappointed by the film. The scripting's a lot better in this one, and those kids have learned how to act a bit more.

The one current film I'm not over the moon about is Narnia - someone's taken a perfectly good fantasy story and turned it into a CGI-generated war film. By the look fo the trailers, there are so, so many better ways then could have interpreted the books.

Saw HP4 last week, its definitely better if you've not read the books. I know you can say that about many book to film adaptations, but yeah, i preferred HP3 out of all of them so far, the films that is.

Am looking forward to King Kong though, i like Peter Jackson and something with Jack Black in is bound to be good.

looking forward to King Kong, and Superman Returns, although the Supes trailer looks boring as hell, apart from Brando's voiceover:

The Brando voice gave me chills along with the music. It is hard to tell how good the movie will be in a 30 second teaser.

Apparently Jackson has tweaked the look of Kong and got rid of the "snaggle tooth" look from earlier incarnations. I guess there was some internet rumblings from fans. I kinda like the 'toothed' Kong myself.

I watched Braindead again the other day, I'd forgotten about the baby and the lawnmower! For anybody who hasn't seen this gem, yes, it is as disturbing as it sounds. Brilliant.

Back to HP4, if I hear one more person whinge about how they left loads out of the film I'm going to scream. Fair enough if you don't like the way they've done it, but if you want all the content either make a 12 hour film ot just read the feckin books!

That wasn't aimed at you guys, it's just a general comment.

That's the film I'm waiting to see.

I like CS Lewis.

That's beside the point. I loved Michael Crichton's "The Lost World" book, but the film was an absolute disgrace. It lacked some of the key characters, added extra ones, about 75% of the film wasn't in the book, and then led to a sequel which has never even been written!

Right, read the titles in any film that is scripted from a book...

It's based on the book, not "we are robbing the book and using every idea and not making anything interesting out of it

Though I still prefer Bad Taste (for which Jackson obviously got lots of public film fundings from the NZ government - I bet they didn't know what he was doing :p) and his version of an adult Muppet Show: Meet The Feebles. :p
