If you can't find a home for him, find your local Cats Protection centre - they'll at least be able to take care of him. It's a shame you're not in Essex, i'd gladly take him.

Its not an option to take him, otherwise i would! Hes an old fella, 15. We;ve had him since i was a baby (im 15 too). No places would take him because he's too old!!

man, you suck. How can u get rid of him!?!?! if uve had him that long dont you think he needs you!?!? do u really think he can cope after 15 years of being around you, to then be pushed away to someone else. Thats just sad. When u buy/adopt a pet, its for life. You wouldnt get rid of a kid or something. I know some may say aperson i different to an animal but both are living things with feelings.

madotter that's a bit harsh - it's perfectly possible that Mikey's moving to a flat or something, where pets aren't allowed.

no excuse imo, if u had kids and the house u were looking at was a no kids place, would u get rid of them? Im sorry but if someone asked me to get rid of my pets (any of them) over a house, id look somewhere else.

Actually, older cats can't always deal with the stress of new surroundings. Cats are extremely territorial, so it's often more stressful for an older cat to be left with a neighbour than moved somewhere else.

Never rented then madotter? you cant usually have pets, fyi. So I guess you'd be homeless :p

As said, the cat might not be able to take the stress. Clearly it'd be awful to leave it behind with somebody else, but its just one of those things. My cat would be ok cos he's young, but there you go.

if I am not mistaken, it's a move from England to the US.

Yeah Its from Uk to USA. #1 reason - he wont survive a 13+ hour flight, then to be picked up etc (hes 15!!!), #2 - he needs injections and stuff and we didn't know this untill it was too late and #3 - we are staying in an american flat/apartment to begin with. We found him a home anyway know so its alright. I do miss him though, obviously!

I'm near Norfolk. Lowestoft in fact. If Norfolk is Norwich, I may be interested.

That's good to hear. But I think an apology from mad otter would be appropriate.
