I used to play a lot, hardly at all now.
back in '93 when I started high school when I was 11, we got a new music teacher and she started guitar classes, so I and a few others joined and learnt the basics. then my mate joined and we were the only 2 to carry on playing for the entire 5 year period of high school.
we hooked up with one of our maths teachers who was very good, and everyday at lunchtime, we'd have our lunch then go to the maths teachers room and play guitar monday-thursday, and on fridays we were allowed to use the music studio and the elctric guitars, so fridays used to be our jam sessions.
we also used to play in the school band and provide musical entertainment for presentation evenings and pantomimes and stuff.
we learnt some classical tunes (no theory, all practical) from the maths teacher, as well as stuff like The Beatles and some Dire Straits. at one presentation evening we played Sultans Of Swing, with the teacher on bass and vocals, and me and my mate playing the electric guitars for the rest of the song.
but since we left school we played less and less, and I hardly play at all now.
my mate was very into the effects pedals and bought a few, and has a couple of guitars, while i only have a nylon-stringed spanish guitar 'borrowed' from school (I left school 7 years ago, still haven't given it back
) and a 'Tanglewood' electric guitar which I bought from Cash Converters back in '98. it has the basic look of a Fender Strat, with red body, white scratchplate and light brown fretboard.
RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael
