Cheryl Broughton - RIP :(

A new student at my college, Cheryl Broughton, 16, has died on her first day at college.

Being as this is my 3rd year at the college, and she was about to start the same course I did last year, a tutor asked me to show a couple of girls, one of them Cheryl Broughton, to their base room.

3 hours later, she collapsed and died outside the library.

I did not know her very well at all, but I just found out she lived in my village, about 5 minutes walk down the road.

From the short walk I had with her, she seemed like a really nice polite girl.

I can't help thinking about her and her family. Just imagine, her mum would have helped her pack her bag, given her a big hug and kiss and wished her good luck with her first day at college, and 4 hours later, she gets a phone call saying her daughter is dead. Too scary to think about tbh.

Seeing as I didn't know her personally very well, I thought this was a good way of showing her and her family, even if they don't read these forums, that I am thinking of them.

Just 16 years old, Cheryl Broughton. RIP.

crikey! Thats harsh! do you know what killed her? brain hemerage of some sort i would guess from the fact that she literally just dropped dead.

There's so many differnet versions of events going around it's hard to say.

Some have said a heart problem, and some have said she choaked on her food, so it's like a game on chinese whispers really. I don't suppose we'll ever know for sure, not being close friends or family.

RIP, altho i would advise either getting proper help (altho you were perhaps not that close to her for that to be neccesary), and/or speaking to real world friends. Talking to people online doesnt give the same effect.

Good advice Dave. I did go and see the college counselor this afternoon which went ok. I just kinda freaked out for a while. The fact that I was speaking to her and getting to know her, and 3 hours later shes dead.

There was also a priest who came in, and I went and said a prayer with him.

iCeMaN pAuL, hope this helps, but you were kind to her. You talked to her tried to make her ok with her new place and so...

You gave her some confort and so. Even if it was just a litlle thing you did you did something good to her and for sure she had great feelings for you (hope you get what I mean, it's difficult to say this in english for me).
