Richard Whiteley was (
) the host of the Channel 4 quiz show Countdown, a numbers and words game that was the very first show on Channel 4 back in 1982, right up to now. in fact, there are about 5 episodes still to show that Richard fronted.
He was a legend to older people and students in particular, and was a major celebrity in Yorkshire for presenting the news show Calender - his two apperances in one evening giving him the name "Twice Nightly Whiteley."
He was an amazing man, who is greatly missed already
