My cousin is seriously ill

He has been suffering mental health problems, and yesterday he tried to kill himself by swallowing all the one and two pence pieces he saved in a big bottle. They caused quite serious complications. My parents phoned the hospital this afternoon to ask how he was, apparently there is no change.

waaaaay off topic:
in kindergarten they told me if you swallow a pit from an apple, a tree will grow inside of you.
i'm not sure if they only tell you that in Holland, but i assume they tell that in other countries as well.
then my question is; why do they say that?! i was scared for about a year because i accidently swallowed one, and was afraid to tell anyone.
every day i was terrified my head would pop open :/
