I've just got myself one of these:

Jaco Pastorius Tribute Relic Jazz Bass

Absolutely amazing instrument. A complete piece of art, and yes, this is a new bass! And it DOES LOOK GORGEOUS! PHWOAR! Set me back £2000 but this thing sings like a bird!

Yup, Jaco Pastorius signature model! Made by Fender's Custom Shop, and it's by far the greatest bass I've ever had the honour to play. I can't imagine there's a better bass in the world (definitly not for people after this tone...YUM!), and I'm sure there's not a better fretless.

Yes but I've made my 'dream rig' a reality :P Spending real money is more noticeable than spending imaginary money!

But yeah I've been after one of these for ages, so the £2000 isn't really an issue, although I'm completely broke now!

that's cool that you've made your dream rig reality.. unfortuantly for me it's gonna take a while for me to make mine real cuz one of them guitars costs 3000.. and i just don't have that kind of money :|

i could however remodel my current guitar put those pickups in and the tune o matic and it will probably sound just as good as a gibson will.. but then again a gibson is a gibson :o actually.. i'm happy with my @#$%& now :P

Yeah, the point is at the back of your head you'll know you're just cheating yourself, and still want the Gibson!

I went to see an acoustic piano trio (the Esbjorn Svensson Trio, they're playing in the Barbican soon, actually) and the pianist had one sitting on top of the piano. He got some awesome effects out of it. Chick Corea likes to have a ring modulator hooked up to his Rhodes for a really distorted sound.
