ouchies, this is an expensive hobby.

luckily this is just my second 1:18 purchase.

i have always been impressed with the shape of this mclaren, i think i just love the chunkyness of the nose, and the rear detailing.

bargain at £21 incl delivery @ £6

nah i think its just cuz those bits are cheapy plastic, injection moulted. they just pop in once the main part of the car is made up, as they cant be made to that detail out of the same metal as the bulk of the chassis. shame though.

yeah mine fell off or was knocked off by my hand as i was handling the model while removing some decals with nail varnish. as Dan says they're just plastic bits glued in, very vulnerable.

Most bits that were glued on came off when I was taking the sponsors off which was good because I was unsure about taking them off as I didn't want to break them whilst trying.

I sprayed it over the weekend..the first layer being the white primer..I think this is where it started to go wrong..I sanded the car down before spraying and then cleaned it ready to spray but the primer wasn't going on too well...it looked alright it just took a lot of coats to cover it all and when I attempted sanding areas too make it smoother it just went back through to the base colour.

The yellow spray went on fine though and if I had sanded it down well enough it would have looked pretty smooth but yeah I'm going to take it all off down to the metal and start again. I tried masking bits off to create the patterns for the 'hawk' on the back above the sidepod and sprayed over with the red spray...that turned out alright actually so that's looking good for my next attempt :p

edit:removed pic...i'll upload a more 56k friendly one tonight

wow i only paid for my montoya 1:18 on tuesday and it arrived first thing this morning! thats fast service :D

model looks gorgeous, very curvy, but quite a lot plasticcy compared to my FW22 button ones which was solid in metal.

i guess its all the aero junk on it, cant be made in ored material substances and scultped to such great lengths.

ah well.

why is it in a raikonnen mp4-19 box too :| weird, ah well.

theres worse in the world. ie, gordon brown. bahaha

subscribed to the Bond Cars Collection, the Z3 and Little Nellie models arrived today:

(photo in 16:9 mode, resized to 60%)

gonna sell the Nellie model for £5 million on ebay, people are paying silly money for them. they could just subscribe and get that and the other 2 subscriber-only models for free...

nope.

i have a collection of the greatest backmarkers of the 90s in 1:43 - i have every tyrell, forti and pacific.

i am surprised they have actually doubled in value what i paid for them, people pay about 10-12 quid these days. not bad!

the 96 green forti is one of the f'ugliest things ive seen though. blergh.
