here's a couple of pics of minichamps' mp4-23. these pics were not taken by me, i asked a guy selling this model on ebay for them.

would have been nice if minichamps had pushed the boat out and added the nose horn things, but then i guess we'd have never seen this model this side of new year!

the standard race models are usually modeled on the car raced at the German GP, so if there are no horns on this model, then there weren't any horns at that race. only other "special" models commemorating a particular race will have the extra aero bits on them, but this is just a generic race model so will be similar to the German GP model.

I didnt know that - Is that a minichamps/McLaren thing or is that generally how they are all modeled on?

I have to get off my arse and actually take some pics of my collection!

yeah i had a feeling that's how they do it. it's a shame the 2008 championship presentation model is only his standard car (with a fancy base) rather than a replica of the car he raced at brazil. that's an extra £40 just for the base. :S

no, that's how all Minichamps F1 models are made, not just McLaren. it's a German company so they've decided to use the German GP as the model they will make.

and yes, still no Button "Only ever LUCKY single victory in his whole career" model yet, what the hell are they doing?

well of course there are the special models which are for a particular race of the season, a first win or whatever, but the run of the mill race models of a season usually are from the German GP.

not that i wish to argue with you muks but the mp4-19, mp4-20, mp4-22, mp4-23 weren't based on the german/european grand prix. ;-) i'm not really sure how minichamps decide what to base their models on. i'd hazard a guess they come up with a generic model from all the races rather than just basing it on just the one grand prix event.

that would be stupid to make a mish-mash from a number of races, as it wouldn't be accurate to anything that way. who knows, i read somewhere they base them on the German GP.

meanwhile Mattel look at the car at the launch, then go on a massive drugs and booze bender, and then model the car from memory ;)

lol :P looking at the mp4-22, that was based on very early season. looks like minichamps want to start selling their hamilton models so quickly they're basing the season car on the first 3-4 races. :S
