Gosh, I haven't been here for a while! I don't think I need to ask how things are; it looks like the forum is thriving!
Anyway, I'm actually here for a bit of a plug, and I'm sure you guys will be interested. I competed in the Speed Sunday Kart Challenge at Thruxton today, and it's going to be televised on ITV either tomorrow or the Sunday after the Japanese Grand Prix. I wouldn't be making such a fuss of it had I not led the race for the first five laps! And before you ask "what happened after five laps, then?", I'll tell you that it was only a 20-lap "celebrity" sprint race, and we were racing in teams of four, so it was five laps each. I was up against the likes of Jason Plato, Kelvin Burt, Tom Chilton and Perry McCarthy (and I suppose I had better mention Vicki Butler-Henderson, too!).
It was an event organised by
racingforcharity.com, and it was fantastic. I'm the guy in blue who makes a scintillating start from the second row, diving around BTCC driver Jim Edwards Jnr to take a lead I wouldn't lose during my stint. Hopefully they caught it all on camera! So I hope you lot can find time to watch my five minutes of fame! Unfortunately, I think they'll only be dealing in team names, so you probably won't here "Alex Roache" mentioned; just "Team 130R".
Anyway, here's a taster pic. As you can see, I had a pretty fine view from my gridslot...
(and yes, I do realise that my signature pic is terribly out of date!)
