macs arent that bad. has anyone who is saying there bad (except scot) actually USED one? the only bad thing i can think of is not enough games are ported to the mac

(although ALL of my hardware - wheel, modem, monitor etc- support mac)

Yes. My college one. It was rather old and out of date, but it wasnt needed for anything good. It spent more time displaying little bomb logos than it did doing anything else. It crashed more times than windows 98 on steriods, and given the fact it doesnt support enough software, it put me off macs for good.

My USB modem doesnt support mac...but then again, sometimes i wonder if it supports PC's...

It does run games, but not that many at all :P so again, useless peice of software to me :P

Dave you're basing all of your arguments on missinformation! They're stable, fast, and DO run the majority of games. Deciding you dont like macs cos of some elderly apple from 98 ort whatever is rather unfair on the g4, 5 etc, especially if you've used osx, its really good!

yeah i know, thats what jon said, but it still doesnt run all my games and programs and therefore is useless to me . I couldnt 3D model any cars in ZM. Its even less compatible with Mac than it is with windows(and god knows it hates windows!). NR2003 runs VERY badly on even the highest form of mac and the mods all have serious bugs. Does GPL run on a mac? I havent heard of it doing so.

No doubt they are good machines, but since the OS supports very little, i see no reason in going near it given that i hate the style and i think my PC looks much better :P And you can custom build a PC how you want it :D

Apples are poor, I've used both Apple and PC quite a bit in the last 2 years and PCs are so, so much better for what I use them for.

And what do I use them for...?

Gaming, Scripting and Graphic Design.

I think if you check Apple's ability in all of those 3 categories, the record is less than impressive.

i've worked on apple computers, and they are good, but i don't want one.
despite the fact that i think they are ugly, i can't really work on them.
well.. i can, but i don't like to work on them
all graphic designers love apples because of a reason..
they're fast with
no lock ups ever (could happen, but then again.. it doesn't :P)
to sum it up.. they do what you'd expect it to do.
nevertheless i don't want an apple :|
what would i use it for?!

even todays mac's are installed with an IE browser which is a pain to work with btw.
so once you installed your favorite browser and are ready to go you can surf through the internet.
There are some quality programs available for it, but thats about it.
Don't even think about running your favorite games etc..
It's a fun toy and good computer, but only as an extra, or something you need for work.

And they aren't faster.. they are in some cases, but they aren't :P
just google on RICS processors if you want to know all about it

if you want to know if an apple might be something for you then you could try this:
delete windows
install linux
try to work on linux for 3 months

if you can live with the fact that you can't install everything (or almost nothing :P) then you are ready for apple
if you just need one for word processing and internetting and all those things then its good, and you can buy it right away
