The entire point of invading Iraq and enforcing a regime change, was to intercept Saddam's weapons of mass destruction before he used them, and more importantly, before he supplied Al-Qaeda with these weapons of mass destruction. It was a given the had assisted Osama bin Laden in 9/11, so what horror would be next, if we didn't get rid of him.
Now we DO know the true story.
Saddam did not assist Al-Qaeda with 9/11, nor did he assist any other acts of terrorism in the west.
Saddam did not have a proper contact with Al-Qaeda or Osama bin Laden.
Saddam did not have any weapons of mass destruction.
It was all a LIE!
Was Saddam a bastard? Yes, no question! Was the average Iraqi better off without him? Absolutely not. The amount of maimed, poisoned, diseased and killed Iraqis, during the years of civil unrest following the invasion, was far worse than even the most oppressive years with Saddam. Did the Americans get to supply their home market with lots of cheap oil? Yes they did. Did the Americans decide to support their war-time president and re-elect Bush? Yes they did.
In the mean time, Blair is going on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and talks for the case of invading Iran and facilitating another regime change. Yes... good idea. Let us do that all over again.
It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.
