Innovative ways to mount a gaming wheel & pedals

I have a wheel that has 3 of those link-'n-stick thingies on the bottom, the wheel basically looking like this: \wheel.

Now, my problem is that I don't have a place to mount it which has a smooth surface, as required by those suckers underneath. Does anybody have any smart ideas to modify it to mount it? Coz it's pretty much unusable when not mounted.

Also, my pedals have nothing at the bottom except 4 rubbers at the corners, and I don't have a floor but a carpet, so it moves alot. Even when I had tiles it wasn't very stable.

So, I am very interested to hear what smart ideas you okes had to get over this dilemma.
