someone can explain me why the helmet looks soo white? the .tga have the alpha layer, and in game it look perfect..

Remove the alpha layer and it will be fixed

try to eliminate the alpha layer, but the problem is the same..maybe can be a problem whit the light? it's my first render and i don't know many things..

I don't know what your light settings are, or what material your using, but check the specular colour in the mat editor, if it's white, change it to black.

Sorry not specular, diffuse, this problem arises when importing models from Poser, all the diffuse channels are set to white, and the render looks similar to yours.

You press F1 ;)

...just kidding, press "M" to open up material editor,( I can't see what version of max your using so it might open up in slate mode) if it does switch to standard mode. (Top left menu I think)

Look at this picture I found on the net



See where it says Ambient, Diffuse & Specular?...If diffuse is white it can cause your render to look like it does.
Just click on the colour and you'll get a colour picker, change it to black, or dark grey.

Have you looked at the gamma settings under the rendering tab? It could be over correcting the render - try setting it to 0.45 as gamma works on an inverse square ratio
