"If in doubt, Flat out."
The race has taken place over changeable conditions and has thrown up a surprise result.

The nature of the race will undoubtedly court controversy too, but it has definitely made up for the dull practice and qualifying.

(The race CTD the first time round, had to grit my teeth and do it again. It was definitely worth it, though ;))

Oh I really don't like the sound of this...not one little bit

My GPGSL Career

GPGSL R16 Race - Nurburgring (Part One)

Hello, and you join us for today's race. We've got Horvath and Greenhalgh on the front row, a rain forecast that's more on and off than Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger, and a mixed up pack. Should be a cracker.

And it's GO GO GO! *ahem*

Horvath gets away well, as does Pedersen.

Greenhalgh looks to throw one down Horvath's way...

...but Pedersen wants to take advantage.

It doesn't look like he's been able to...

...which is confirmed a few turns later. The status quo remains so far.

Johnson has a look at Pedersen.

He stays close, and Edwards and Aleksander are quite close behind.

Horvath and Greenhalgh stay in the same positions as they get to the final turn.

Greenhalgh can't seem to make too much ground on Horvath...

...as the track is visibly different on different sections.

Some standings then...

As Greenhalgh begins to hustle Horvath.

They're close through the next few corners too; Pedersen and Johnson are also falling back.

Here's John Warrington, getting a sniff of Thomas' 13th position...

...and decides he likes the smell of it.

Hunsley stays back, looking to pick up any potential pieces.

Warrington hasn't done the deed, and falls back from Thomas...

...but the Aston Martin engine chews up the tarmac on the straight and pings him right back into contention.

AND RODRIGUEZ IS OFF!

The Ford engine lets go and poor old Carlos has yet another mechanical failure in his ART.

And Greenhalgh is VERY close to Horvath...

...and chucks a move right down into the first corner.

Greenhalgh gets the lead, the process of which the Race Director has missed (sorry!)

Pedersen's still in 3rd.

Steer goes for a trip to the kitty-litter. At least he lives up to his nickname...

He rejoins behind team-mate Sheppard.

Pedersen comes in for a packet of crisps and a fresh set of boots.

Hunsley's under attack from Elleker as Kittleson looks on.

Elleker pounces like a fat kid in a bakery...

..and gets to taste the sweetness of 6th place. Mmmm...

Here's our current leader, Ben Johnson. He's yet to pit, though.

Thomas and Warrington are at it again...

...something to do with hammers and tongs...tch, I dunno.

He looks to have it...

...as the camera switches to Edwards at an inopportune moment.

Pedersen's down in 13th after his pitstop.

Greenhalgh is now behind Pedersen, the Dane having had a quicker stop.

Kittleson leads as Edwards, Johnson and a couple more stop for a cuppa.

Pedersen does his best to fend off Greenhalgh...

...who really has the wind in his sails.

They enter the last corner line astern...

...but Greenhalgh tries to cruise down the inside on the start/finish straight (why all of the boat-based stuff? It's not THAT wet)

What we don't see is Pedersen cut him off, as we get a nice shot of Jalving instead. He's lurking in 3rd.

And as Vilela is overtaken by Nell...

...let's get the standings after the pit phase.

And we'll be back after a break, don't go away! Or do, either suits me.

And the story continues. Losing places over places in the pits again and again. I'll be the happiest man on earth IF we'll only have one stop from next season onwards.

I should think so Glen, yes :)

5 x WCC - S5, S6, S7, S8, S10 | 4 x WDC - S5 Nick van der Voort ; S6, S7, S8 Ed Greenhalgh | 2 x WTC - S6 Stuart Ingers; S8 Andrei Sevastian

Stats: 139 Starts / 7 Wins / 9 Poles / 5 Fastest laps
I'm near the back :(
But, CMON MICHAEL! GET THE WIN

GPGSL R16 Nurburgring Race (Part 2)

Greenhalgh is still behind Pedersen, but Jalving’s closing in.

Hinz and Somogyi have a scrap for 10th

Which Somogyi hangs on to.

Aleksander isn’t giving Edwards an easy day of it.

Greenhalgh never shies away from a battle. He’s edging closer to Pedersen.

And it’s safe to say Jalving’s close now too.

So yes, Pedersen is in the lead, as we get a good look at the Christel’s innovative artwork.

Hinz tries to flip-flap around Somogyi, but can’t seal the deal.

Jalving gives the front pair some room.

Aleksander asks Edwards a few questions.

He’s behind at the last corner...

But uses the straight and outmuscles the young Brit out of the way at turn 1!

Greenhalgh is right up Pedersen’s trumpet.

Somogyi’s under pressure from a resurgent Greidanus.

This is the closest Ed’s been...

...but Pedersen edges him out at the hairpin.

Somogyi’s fighting hard against Greidanus...

...and the Dutchman’s really trying hard to get 11th.

Jalving’s still lurking behind the front two, scheming away.

Whilst his teammate leads, Elleker’s dicing with the Snakes and Johnson, who’s fallen down the field.

Warrington’s got a fight on with Edwards.

Nell shows he’s one for the future by giving Thomas quite a fright...

...which allows the German to make a clean, tidy, and dare I say efficient move.

Thomas’ plight allows Vilela to try his luck, whilst Greidanus looks to have the better of Somogyi.

Now, Greenhalgh has a run on Pedersen, just before the hairpin...

...and he’s got it. Chris Copeman looks crestfallen in the Christel gantry.

Steer and Johnson have a fight between themselves.

Here’s a treat, we have the positions as you get to watch Aleksander and Cartwright battle for 4th.

Jalving’s closed right up to Pedersen, but Aleksander is slowly gaining.

Now, Warrington’s got a run at Edwards...

Doesn’t make it, Edwards slams the door and sticks a ‘do not disturb’ sign on.

However, Edwards has more than halved the previous gap to Cartwright.

We can now see how much Aleksander has closed the gap to Jalving, the man’s on a mission.

Somogyi and Nell occupy 13th and 14th in the yellow machines

Jalving’s really hustling Pedersen, he’s putting a move on:

He looks down the inside...

...but Aleksander’s been really cheeky and tried to grab a piece of the action.

Jalving’s into 2nd, it’s not clear whether Aleksander has 3rd.

As the cars lap again, Marko’s made the move and now gives Jalving something to think about.

And now for another break, we'll provide the rest shortly :)

Well part 2 went well... Damn

New-boy Gareth McCarthy gets into 16th. And isn't that a lovely helmet?

Well pleased NOT to bin it on my debut in the test session and pleased NOT to come in last at the session's end. And yes my helmet is absolutely delightful, I'll need to get onto that ;)
