Does anyone know what causes the reflections on the cars to be too shiny, or how it can be fixed? When I install the 2001 cars from GP4db.com the reflections are overly shiny - to the point where it makes the cars look faded and it's not really that attractive at all to look at. I'd like to keep the high res cars, but the excessive shine has got to go. :(

You need to darken the alpha layer of each car texture using photoshop or any editing programme which works with tga files - this reduces the shiny reflection to how you want it to be in-game. If the alpha layer is white there will be a lot of reflection, if it's black there won't be any so it's a case of adjusting the brightness til it looks ok

You can also set environment maps to static in the options menu which greatly reduces how shiny the cars look - though you'll loose the reflections of trackside objects on cars, so the best way is what neilcaine said above.
