5th is good i like 5th place right now, it gives me a good shot at a large chunk of points, so a good shot at getting in the mix with the top guys! :)

Hello all and Welcome today to the race here at the A1 Ring in Austria. Yesterday we saw a topsy turvy qualifying with the current top three in the championship qualifying way down the field. This paved the way for a new pole sitter and delight for Zakes after qualifying last and rumours of pressure he managed to put it on pole followed be De Boer in the new car. Let’s head down to the grid for the action.

A long way to go for Razak

That is a horrible start by De Boer

Yoshimoto has come from 12th straight into 7th

Antunis has got round the outside of Zakes into the first corner

He has the lead

Yoshimoto is already defending his position to Jantsher

Carreiro making a move up the inside of Vukcevic

Vukcevic is not going to give it up that easy and retakes the position at the end of the straight

Oakley managed to get by Jantsher as he fell back from Yoshimoto and sees Ward come through as well

Onboard with Urazel we see Xanthis has made a move on Tafuro

Current standings after one lap, Allthough you can see De Boer intends to change that

And succeeds

Hunsley immediately has to take a defensive line against Vukcevic

Later in the lap though Vukcevic makes his move

Commited by both men but this leaves Hunsley vulnerable into the home straight

Dropping like a stone he is now 9th

Stein has outbraked himself but I do not have to tell Paddock he felt it

Leaves the door open for Xanthis

This cost them both their place to Xanthis, Predator esque by the Greek

McGregor is gaining places thats Ward out the way for the Aussie

Maybe he has great instincts but not great defence Xanthis has already lost the places gained

Razak comes from a bit deep and makes his way up the inside

This puts Copeman into last place

McGregor is making ground on Hunsley

Ward has gone wide and this seems him all the way down to 18th

While this was happening McGregor has made his move on Hunsley, he just cannot stop going backwards

Vanthoor is going for it and succeeds as well

Mirko runs wide yet manages to hang on

Looks like everyone wants a go today

None succeeded though

After 6 laps the standings

Zakes is finally starting to close the gap on Antunis

First retirement today and it is Oakley and still no points this year for England

Vanthoor has slid off the race circuit

And rejoins in last

Xanthis is very defensive with Maverick

It pushes Maverick and in turn he closes the door on Paddock

Vukcevic has tried a move on Yoshimoto but completely overshot the corner

It is lucky they did not collide

Just because Vukcevic is no longer there does not mean the pressure relents for Yoshimoto. Jantsher is on his tail

Copeman has gone off, was he ignoring the yellow flags?

They will not fix that

Vukcevic rejoins last

Jantsher gets by on the inside of Yoshimoto

Our only other non point scorer this season retires

McGregor is trying to attack Yoshimoto and keep close to Jantsher

Xanthis must have made a mistake since he is way back with Vanthoor and Vukcevic

Antunis showing a defensive line,

Pulls back giving Zakes space and he capitalises. New race leader

Time for a break
Hunsley has spun out, it just does not get any better for South Africa

No room there De Boer

Zakes is pulling away from Antunis who is holding up De Boer badly

Not again! You got to feel for Australia as they add yet another retirement from a point scoring position

Hunsley runs wide

A bit more simple for De Boer than Zakes but he is by Antunis into turn 1

Maverick is running well and in the points which is great considering quail

The gap is a bit too much to turnover in the pitstops for De Boer

Tafuro and Vanthoor going on safari

Zakes our leader is the first man to pit

De Boer immediately in after

Antunis takes back the lead for now

Zakes and De Boer out in 4th and 5th place respectively

Oh that will not help Antunis’ fight to regain first

Carreiro is our new current leader

Antunis defending against Yoshimoto

Time for his stop and Yoshimotos! Can he get by him in the pits?

Zakes and De Boer are through

Antunis manages to keep his place in the pits

Carreiro to pit now and loose the lead

Zakes regains the lead

De Boer in second again

Ward is the last man to pit and he has nicked Mavericks place from him

Standings after the first stops

Antunis has found himself way down the field he must have spun off

He must have heard we missed it because there is a repeat performance

Vukcevic has latched onto the back of Paddock and is working his way up the field

Ward is also looking to capitalise on his good stop

Vukcevic bullies his way through

As does Ward

Ooooo Tafuro bumps Razak

Jantsher has managed to get Carreiro in his sights for the last podium place

Just like that Carreiro runs wide and Jantsher makes his way by in the very next corner!

Horvath goes wide

Maverick has the run

Horvath refuses to give up he was not going to give that up easy

Next lap and Maverick looking but Horvath made it very clear he is not giving the place up

And here are the standings as we pass the half way mark

Tafuro has found a way round rather that into Razak

Stein is all over the back of Maverick

And manages to pass on the inside

Zakes again the first pitter for the second stints

He rejoins in 5th

Horvath pits from 7th and will hope to keep ahead of the storming Stein

Eyes are on De Boer

Zakes is only coming round the last corner

That is a lightening stop by De Boer and he takes the virtual lead

Stein pits

And does indeed come out 13th one place ahead of Horvath

Carreiro pits from 2nd

Vanthoor has spun off, nightmare day for Vanthoor

Time for another break!
Carreiro comes out 6th for now and will be looking to retake his place from Jantsher

Urazel pits right behind Maverick but cannot get past him

Stein has come through as Maverick leaves

Maverick comes out just behind Horvath

Jantsher holds onto 3rd after his stop

Stein is a big winner from the pit stops he even steals the position from Yoshimoto

Here are the standings after the pits

So now Maverick is on the outside of the points situation

Not anymore Ward had binned his car from 5th

Maverick now has the last points place!

Urazel has run on into the wall and is out

Yoshimoto trying to bring back Stein

The gap is hovering though

Same for Maverick and Horvath

Tafuro has a points place in his plans which is great considering his qualifying

Oh no De Boer with the mistake which means he is slow down the home straight. Zakes takes back the lead

Horvath out brakes himself and Maverick is through

De Boer is on top of Zakes

Vukcevic trying to get past Paddock

Stein ruins the great work of his pit crew and retires from 5th

This puts Tafuro in the points

He is looking for a way around Horvath who is defending aggressively

He has managed to make a move stick

Only a few seconds back to Maverick

Zakes has slight breathing room

Tafuro has spun off and ruined what was a solid race

Standings with just 7 laps to go

Horvath has spun somewhere round the circuit he is out the points

This moves Paddock and Vukcevic into 7th and 8th respectively

Make that 8th and 7th respectively

Horvath has run wide again and left himself no chance of points

Vukcevic and Paddock are so close to Maverick in 6th

Yoshimoto bumps off the wall and gets away with it

There it is Congratulations to Zakes for winning the Austrian GP and giving the Madagascan team boss something to smile about

De Boer a very solid second but he will be wondering what might have been

Jantsher takes the last podium place

Maverick just, just holds onto 6th which should see him as the new championship leader

Here are your final standings

Hi guys i am delighted about the way the result turned out. Finally got a result :P

However i want to make this post to apoligise. I have not committed myself as fully as i could and sure i could give you the excuses why i been that way but ultimately it is because i have not done enough. I am not quitting the Nations Cup but i am making this genuine honest pledge that i am not going to f*** around anymore because you guys want an entertaining series and i intend to give it you. Anyone who wants the mod is more than welcome to pm for the link. There are still a couple of bugs but i intend to get those fixed in the next couple of weeks. Again i apoligise fully and i thank you guys for a lot of faith.

On the buisness end i was thinking that since i have three inactive drivers i will give one of those seats to John on the waiting list and my idea was to give him an average of the points left from everyone believed to be active. I wanna hear your ideas and then i will pm John and give him the seat

Ah well you would like the result, fix! ;)
From what I could tell, we got points which is always good, but we could have got more and if Vukcevic had been a little more sensible maybe so.

On the other note, i dont think you need to apologise icky, we all realise that life and other stuff takes importance over stuff, and rather a full performance than a half hearted attempt ;-). Your commentaries are good, and it just happened that you were busy at the same time I was away, coincidences happen. That's my thoughts on the matter anyway ;-)

Wow! 4th place is good. Maybe a podium in the next races? Icky, for me you don't need to appologise. :)

Can you, please, post the champioship standings?

About the extra performance points, it's up to you...

DAMN DAMN DAMN! I blew it! ;) I was in the lead :(
Still a nice and solid 2nd though :) Happy with the new cars performance!

Icky, very good coverage :) Don't worry about taking your time a little to post a race, it's an exhausting job! We (or at least me, but i suspect the other people in the league too) thank you and respect you for making the coverages and races!

Keep it up!

Belgium statement

That's not really good, but we keep on saving points and we'll be back. Vanthoor makes poor mistakes though...

Can you please check the value of the reliability for slot 8 because this is getting f***ing ridicules. I should be leading this championship.

Firstly, Ben, this is a great coverage. Well done job.

And I totally agree with Maikkel, you definitely don't have to apologize. You're running this series mostly alone and that is a hell of a job. I would really like to help you with this, but right now I don't have the time to do such an amazing coverage. But please, don't apologize for doing a great job!

Thanks for the kind words guys!

@Macca i checked it before and again after every race because i get paranoid of some of the stuff i see during the race. Is there anywhere else you can check it beyond the perf file? Also in the magic data i turn down all the errors so they are around the 100 mark and i tone the car wear down too but i keep that a bit higher.

I totally cheated ;) it was the only way i was posting this race;)

It was horrible to watch because i was taking screenies of De Boer all over my car ;)
