Heat haze simulates the visual effect hot air has when it meets colder air. (The air coming from the engine is naturally much hotter than the surrounding air. So it looks all hazy, as if the hot air was dancing above the cars.

But still, when I turn on "TV Overlays" nothing is happening, everything looks the same as i did before.... or I´m blind !!!

in my limited playing of f1 2002 the side mirrors seem to show heat haze which is either for real or my comp acting funny since when i come up next to a car i don't see any heat haze
I thought the same. In fact, you will only see them in external (track) cameras and i also think you have not to use GPxPatch. then just wait some time and you will see them. Another thing i never verify: you may have to activate Arcade layer too to be able to see tv overlays (i don't know as each time i tried i was using both).
