Patch 9.6 NOT WORK !!!

i'm very confused!
(sorry,my english is bad)

My friend have PC and only play GP games.
I'm purchase GP4 for him (birthday gift) and install new patch 9.6 over FULL install game.
Game not work, crash on desktop after click DRIVE menu any time.Same CD work on my PC exellant with patch 4.0.New patch must be better but not work.

Configuration of my friend:
AMD Athlon 900Mhz
256 RAM
G-Force 2 MX 32
Win ME
directx 8.1

My configuration:
AMD Athlon 850Mhz
256 RAM
G-Force 4 MX 440 64DDR
Win ME
directx 8.1

Original game crash on my PC,but patch fix it this problem.
Now,it's happen sometime after finished race.
At my friend crash on desktop ever before start race.
No-CD patch is also installed.
Patch 9.6 not work decidedly.
Game working like patch is not installed.
Why?
anyone have experience?

Check your friend's pc and make sure that he does not have any other programs running in the background.
It is also a good idea to switch screensavers off when playing GP4.
If the game runs ok on your computer but not on your friends, the problem is in your friend's pc.
He might also try reinstalling direct x. (BTW there is now a Direct X 9 available).
Make sure your friend uninstalls the game first, remove all traces of GP4 (especially if you used the old patch).
Install the game again and then patch it with v. 9.06.

Still a couple of things. Which Nvidia drivers are you using? Update to at least 40.72. They work well for me. Also keep in mind that GP4 needs alot of processor power. It may be your friend is trying too hig resolutions and too many graphics goodies.

One more thing, is the NoCD patch installed before the patch was put on?, is it a pre 9.6 patch NoCD crack?

problem is resolved.
Detonator driver is bad.
Now,game work very nice and my friend is satisfied.
