Is it true that GP4 only works with DirectX 8.1a and nothing else??

Also, is it true that the Dx on the GP4 CD isn't any good, it doesn't work properly or something??

Thanks

im playing gp4 with dx9, its stupid.

in practice its 60po on the grip its 300!, if i watch a replay its 400, if i fast forward using F7 its 90!!!

this shows how badly the gfx & physics engines go together

Guys, I must be lucky. Installed DX9 and it seems to work ok. PO 65-70 in practise, 105 on grid and 70-80 in race (fps 28). This is with res 1280x1024. My comp: P4 2.0, 256 ddr, GF3 ti200.

I'm using the DX8.1 from the GP4 cd and it works fine on my modest P3-800.

The stages that game development normally goes through are:

1. Creating a game engine (or copy and pasting one)
2. Copy and pasting code from the last version
3. Make the game playable
4. Alpha testing - doesnt work
5. Get it to work
6. Write manuals etc
7. Release game
8. Beta testings - hardly works
9. Release a patch that makes it nearly work
10. Release the next version at £35
