@LWC: Hard to believe because 3D-arms would be a huge improvement. At least in my opinion...

Of course I was believing you, LWC :) As far I remember you've posted those screens a couple of weeks ago in another thread.

It's hard to believe that there wasn't enough interest in it. I would really like to know how to use those arms ingame. So please share it with me/us :)

i cant remember the exact details it was so long ago, plus i dont really play gp4 anymore, all i remember is you have to adjust some tweaker settings for it to work properly, the rotation is poor unless you have the helmet attached to the car then you can add more rotation

but it also requires other updates(3d stwheels into .gp4 files)?

Yeah the same old question again...year by year.
Those wheels are fascinating, but I bet there are still just a few people who care about this, so it's not worth to put a lot of effort in this work.

As far as I remember both of you (Craigo & ilkayplaya) worked on those 3D arms, right? Did you made any progress in the meantime? I would be already satisfied to have such 3D ingame, no matter if it's perfect (proper motion)...

Yeah, though it didn't look as realistic as Craigos work, I worked on it too.
I didn't make any progess after my last screen, because no one was interested and I lost the motivation. Additionally, you had to take a loss when using these 3d wheels. For example by attaching them to the car, the wheel does not turn or by attaching them to the helmet, I never could find the right setting to make it realistic.
And then there was this problem with painting: For me it was very hard to paint them and look them realistic. It was too much effort and I never had enough time. I still doubt that enough people are interested in this, but maybe in a few months (when I'll have more time), I will go on working on 3d wheels. Who knows ;)

there had been at least two mods released with this 3d arms. the gp4amers.nl mod and a gp4 italia mod. but it looks only realistic up to certain point, cause they are attached as helmet. helmet itself is static. so it looks not to real. it also costs some po, 22 3d arms have to be rendered.
i also had me try with 3d arms in cockpit view (attached to steering wheel) does not look realistic at all... ;(

you forget the 1991 mod also had them attached to the helmet :)

I'm still intrigued by the half arm idea with the static helmet, but I never had the time to test Tweaker because i very rarely play the game. I think it works better with the older mods when they had rounder wheels that didn't fit very well in the stwheel.tex. I'd be interested in working with someone on it if they did the Tweaker side, as I think there could be a good compromise that could be reached.
