well, it's important, you have to run the original game before you install and update with CSM.
Do other mods work?

if you are not completely sure that you ran the game first, then do that.
reinstall everything again, i suppose.
the game first, run it, go ingame for couple of seconds (on track, i mean)
then update with zaz tools etc.
if you did all that, i'm not sure what's going on..

Delete GP4. Open regedit, Start/Run/regedit. F3 key, find Infogrames, remove all entries (or use a good registry cleaner).
You must do a clean install of GP4, and I will assume that you are a good lad and have your original disc. Set compatibilty of the exe to XP SP2. Run once, save settings and exit.
Install official 9.6 patch, set compat again, run once and exit. Remove cd from drive. Install 1.02 nocd, set compat again. run once, save and exit. (Patches are in the download area.)
Uninstall Zaz Tools. Install Zaz Tools. Set CSM exe to run in admin mode. It should now run.
If you do not have an original disc we cannot help you much as we really do not know what you have there. What is your OS please?

On Vista, do the compatibility modes for GP4 and run as admin for CSM. Report back please. :-)
