gp4 tweaker

gp4 tweaker keeps giving me this error:
Unable to open gp4 file!
Make sure gp4 is not running and no other applications accessing GP4 files.


i didn't open anything, not gpxpatch or those things , not even a single map
help?

it worked fine before, but i needed to reinstall because i thought i didn't need it anymore...

Sorry for the bump, but I have this same problem.

I don't have any GP4 stuff opened or anything and I get this error when I try to open my Tweaker, I am also on Vista

Hmmm, you should not need to run tweaker in compatibility or as an administrator, should start up. Make sure you have the latest Version 1.0.4.5 in the history list. You should also have the v1.02nocd GP4.exe, d/l on this site.

Downloaded the GP4.exe and have the latest version I think (I installed from the file: gp4tweak_1045CU1_setup) and I still get the same error message

That's got me beat. I have W7 and it runs fine, although saying that doesn't really help you a lot. :-/

Haha thats ok mate, at least you gave me some advice on what to do, I'll just keep fiddling around with it haha

have 2 gp4 folders but how can change the gp4.exe path?

change the name of the gp4 folder. then gptweaker ask you to choice a new gp4.exe.

PARAMETERS
----------
GP4 Tweaker has two switched parameters to control and override regular behavior of the program. Parameter codes are NOT case sensitive. These parameters are:

1. Override GP4 folder/path detection

Usage: GP4TWEAK.EXE /P[=filename]
Force GP4 Tweaker to detect GP4 files in specific directory instead retrieve it from registry. You can create a desktop shortcut for easy access and set the "working folder" into your GP4 directory using "/P" single switch. This is a good solution when you have more than one GP4 game installed in the system. You may also specify GP4 executable path and filename if different than "GP4.EXE". If the path and filename part contains space, enclosed with doublequotes.

These following examples are valid:
/P <- current folder as GP4 folder
/P=GP4V102.EXE <- use current folder and GP4V102.EXE
/P="GP4 Season 2002.exe" <- use current folder and "GP4 Season 2002.exe"
/P=C:\GRANDP~1\GP4_001.EXE <- specify a different folder and filename
/P="c:\grand prix 4\gp4.exe" <- specify a different folder and long filename

These following examples are INVALID:
/P= <- no filename at all
/P=GP4 <- no extension
/P=C:Grand Prix 4.exe <- contain spaces without doublequotes
/P=GP4+SEASON_2002/03.EXE <- contain invalid filename symbols

2. Override GP4 executable file detection
-----------------------------------------
Usage: GP4TWEAK.EXE /D[=n]
Force GP4 Tweaker to use a lowest or no mechanism to detect valid GP4 executable file. If "/D" switch is used alone, GP4 Tweaker will only detect some GP4.EXE identification bytes to decide either current GP4.EXE is retail version (v1.00) or patch version (v1.02/v9.6). To force GP4 Tweaker assuming the executable file is in a specific version, use additional code numbers as follows:

/D=1 -> Assume GP4 executable file as version 1.00 (retail)
/D=2 -> Assume GP4 executable file as version 1.02 (patch v9.6)

This switch is useful if you have GP4 executable file detection problem when using GP4 Tweaker in normal way.
USE THIS SWITCH WITH CAUTION! If you use code number and you accidentaly specify wrong GP4 executable file, you may corrupting or damaging that file.

i want to change the tyre positions in my csm mod.
how can i use the edit function? i don't know how to save the settings after the ingame editing.

Just edit the tyrepos.ini in your csm mod. This is usually found in your C:\Programs\Infogrames\Grand Prix 4\Saves\Carsets\2010\Data\Tweaker\Gp4Tweak_Data.

Hope that gets you started.

I think you edited your gp4 .exe with teameditor thats why tweaker can´t open it correct. try to replace it with a new .exe
And otherwise open your taskviewer and go to proces to see wich proces is using your gp4 .exe and end the proces

I already did a fresh gp installation and i still can't open gp4tweaker

i installed gp4
i installed the patch
i installed gp4 1.02 decrypted version
i installed gp4 tweaker....and i still get this info??
no other files are opened.
