mapping is really not difficult Jurgen, if you know some basics in zmodeler already. Just select by material, assign textures, select by points ands move things into the box

agreed, mapping a whole part is much simpler than just a few faces

i'm on the first step of a very long stairway to mapping, but i will give it a try and i want to thank you all involved for your kindness to help in every way :). I appreciate every little help from you and i hope i can give you something back one day. It's a great community and i've found a lot of good friends here and even if i don't talk to much to some of them, they are always deep in my heart. I'll never forget what i've got from you and what you've done for me :). It's great to be a part of this community :)

I used to have a very good tutorial which learned me how to map using zmodeler (1.07), I believe it was compiled by Eugenio Faria :) Maybe I can dig it up somewhere on my computer if I still have it ;-)

nice to see there are still some people start in making cars.

however i suggest to use 3dsmax which is much quicker and easier to handle with. :)

ZM is good, but while the polygens is increasing, it's has been out of date. You need to spend lots of time on selecting faces and waiting, sometimes crashing...there's also some hidden shortcut which will lead you to a bad situation (alt + click on the selected face + assigen mapping = such a strange thing you will lose all mapping)

i've both(zmodeler and 3ds max)

i've to say that zmodeler is good for smalls job.i find really boring the extrusion(in zmodeler it can be done only manually).

3ds max is good, and i'm trying to learn it:-)

yes.
the more you use 3dsmax, the more you will like it.
but 3dsmax doesn't support any vertiex align, that's strange.
