High Gear Forums closed

I know it's old news for some but check out the reason why if you haven't already seen it; On October 1st 1998 High Gear opened its doors at
www.simracingnews.com, then hosted by Gamer's Alliance. We're now 4 years on; one of the biggest simracing sites around and being hosted by GameSpy at www.sportplanet.com/hg/.

As we're nearing the 4th birthday of the site I have made the very
difficult decision to close it down. I know this will probably come as a
shock, although with the lack of activity on my side you will probably
have deducted all is not well with the site.

The main reason for closing down the site is the racing sim community.
It's unbelievable how much abuse there is around aimed at developers,
publishers, other community users and even us. But also the fact that
updating the site every day has turned into a job instead of the hobby I
once started the site out of. I haven't raced any racing sims since the
beginning of 2002 and that's a bad sign. (from original notification email by kenv@sportplanet.com)
I for one wouldn't want to see that happen here.

Neither me but this is a rather peculiar forum (lucky for us). Here there is a sense of friendship and comraderie, where intead at High Gear people were fighting a religion war and insulting each other even on personal basis.
Here we do jokes and laugh together, there are two factions of talibans trying to prove that one was smart and the other dumb.
No one here has ever insulted Bruno, rather I could say that we hardly notice that we are "moderated" actually.
Here you cannot find any fanboy, there they are sold by the dozen.
Just think of how many posts here are only aimed at making other mates laugh, there everyone is waving is banner and trying to prove his own case.
Maybe here is easier because this is about GP4 only, but I think that people are likely going where they feel to belong and I don't think that one who like flames can gain any satisfaction on here. As long as we stay like we are now we don't run such a risk.
