F12002 v GP4 thoughts

Just spent a morning setting up F12002 as a comparison. Nice finished feel to it, all the timing info in place etc... Looks crap though after gp4, really grainy graphics (dunno if I can improve that on my ti4600?).
I'm stuck with gp4 for all it's faults I reckon - it's just a much better drive all round. Both games are a pain in the butt though in loads of ways - eg F1 has a really annoying feature which is that crashing down the gearbox sticks you in reverse?!
Waste of 1/2 a day there I reckon - also I just read that EA are sacking off the F1 series after this one...
I don't care about F1 in general, just want to have fun with the best racing sim around - wonder what TOCA3 will be like?

that only happens if you shift down to many times so it goes from neutral to reverse. shifting is way to easy in GP4, in F1 2002 you have to wait until your going quite slow until you shift down or you'll end up pointing the wrong way and shifting in the middle of a corner upsets the car. I dont play either of them at the moment though

the gp4 v f1_2002 debate has been done to death, it has even resulted in awful flame wars on some forums, I have f1_2001 and f1_2002, GP3_2000 and GPL, they are all good sims in thier own way

Its like the Q3 vs UT arguments. You either like em both or just one. Which one - it doesnt matter. All that matters is you play what you enjoy.

I love the AI on GP4 i had an excellent race with JV last night, lasted the entire race, i like GP4 better because its a racing game not just a driving game.

Ah come on! Everybody knows Q3 is a lot better than UT. Q3 looks like a modern game today, UT doesn't!

I like UT cos I can play it on my 4 year old comp, but Q3 is out of the question. I can't even play Delta Force 2, for God's sake! (or my own, either way)

Q3 must be better because the engine is still being used today, and there are loads more Q3 mods out than UT ones

Er - sorry I started all this crap guys, UT is better than Q3 + F12002 together & the next UT looks like a stunner - should be out in 3 weeks.

How about GP5 tournament - deathmatch capture the chequered flag mode (that's how my nephew plays GP4 already). Then Geoff would HAVE to make it online multiplayer.
