So what basically that happens every time I exit from the Rolling Hills GP track. I have used numerous other custom tracks as well, with success, but some other tracks - 2006/7 Imola and Istanbul come to mind - tend to do the same thing...

Any other info needed?

Specs: Acer Travelmate 4200 laptop
Intel Centrino Duo 1.66Ghz processor
2GB Ram

And can't be 'because it's a laptop' as only these certain circuits do this - not even Monaco or Spa does it, and I presume they have the biggest detail of all real tracks.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes thanks man, I realised it... But do you know why is that an error? Because it gives exactly the same error on Istanbul as well...
do you use the track in TSM ?

No, I don't use CSM. Have you seen this before?
not seen it before but you don't have to use csm mod to use TSM, many of you guys don't know that but TSM runs seperated with csm mod, maybe its time to try it out :-)

It looks like it is calling on something that doesn't exist, I've not seen that error before. Your anim.wad needs a restore or replace the original, there's an error on it.
However, I use Rolling Hills in TSM and it works fine for me.
In the FAQ there is a tutorial on setting up TSM with new tracks, hosted by grandprixx.com.

Thanks, but setting the tracks up in TSM is easy, but I don't use it since I am not using CSM.

And my Anim.wad is the exact original in the first place... Do you maybe know where I can download someone's anim.wad that actually works 100%?
Take it off the cd, that's easiest way. And as Steve already said, you can use TSM, but without running a mod in CSM.

But how do you do that? How do you assign a trackset profile without a mod?
And why would it be my anim.wad if it only happens on this one track? It doesn't crash while on the track either - just when I press escape.

TSM will replace your original tacks in whatever order you choose to load them.

I'll explain one more time how TSM works without using a CSM mod !!!!

You install the tracks in TSM, you co do that in 2 ways.

The first and easiest way is when a track is released in the TSM extension, .TUH then you simple double click on it and it will be automatic installed in TSM

The second and more work way is as follows.

You open TSM and you press, manage tracks. You select CREATE a new track. You give in a name(thats the folder the files will be stored) the main folder is tracks you can find that one in the main gp4 folder.

Then you fill in all the things above, its not needed but its better to fill in author, land, ... Then you load the .wad file, .dat file, .bmp file, .gpi file if there are available. Then you go to the magic data tab there you can change everything for the track. When done you press SAVE in the magic data tab that will make sure you don't have a random crash. After that you go to the left tab configure and there you press SAVE track.

You continue that for all the track you want there.

Then you make a profile, for example F1 2009 Season

You add 17 tracks into that profile and when done you select in LOADING/RESTORING to install tracks. All the track from the profile will be loaded in the main gp4 folder now and they will appear in the order you have setup the profile !!!!

If you are done playing its better to UNINSTALL the tracks in TSM to avoid problems !!!

IMPORTANT: as long as the tracks are loaded in TSM, YOU DO NOT CHANGE A THING ON THE TRACKS in the main gp4 folder till they are unloaded are you could have alot of crap doing that !!!

So that is basic the way TSM works without a CSM mod !!!!!

So basically you are loading them into the game via TSM, but just run it via GPXPatch as per normal???

I take it it just overwrites the original .wad and .dat files? Which is basically what I do manually anyway?

Or I am seriously missing something...
it doesn't overwrite the default tracks, it add them like you store them in TSM but when tsm is loaded the default ones won't be active.
OK so that didn't work either... darn it. Also replaced my anim.wad with the original, but to no avail. That is just sad as I want to race this track so badly... :(
