Hi! My PC spec:
CPU P4 630 3Ghz Ht
3GB RAM Bus 667mhz
Nvidia 8600GT VGA Card
I can play GP4 with all mod with 90-120% PO. Sometimes i have crash or freeze with non-csm mod and csm mod i downloaded from gp4db. I don't know why. So i intend upgrade my pc, should i use CPU Q8200 or Core2duo E8400? Can gp4 run smooth and no crash on 4 core or 2 core? Please help me!
Luan Minh, Vietnam.

It matters little which configuration you choose as GP4 runs best on one cpu. That is why in gpx_patch there is the option to set the cpu to 1. I have a core two duo and I have set the affinity of the exe via the properties to 1 cpu only.
When you have ctd, post the error log with additional information, which mod, and when the ctd occurred.

No, no-one can but you. It's your setup, so you have to choose what you want enabled or disabled for your conditions. Get your hands dirty and just edit it, there's loads of info on this forum about it - search!

Thanks

To reduce your PO, you can do several things:
- Use lower lods ( with the 2009 cars, some , based on yohan's shape don't need lower lods because each lod weights about 295 ko but between 1Mo to 2Mo, you will probably need to reduce them for lods 1 to 4)
- Reduce the size of the textures: Use slimtex (Zaz tools). If you are using hi-textures (2048*2048 or more), convert them into 1024*1024.
-Into the game, go to Options- Graphics- advanced graphics options and reduce the effects like reflection, shadows. Also, reduce the others settings if they are set on High to Medium...Try different configurations and calibrate your graphics. You can also disable the mirrors...
-Open your Nvidia panel and configure the settings for higher performances.
-If you are playing with Hi-res tracks, it may also increase your PO..

Hope this will help...

i would go for the E8400 cause that are very good cpu's. Also an upgrade for your graphic card would be a good idea if you ask me.

I have a CD2 E8600, its very good for GP4.
With this processor you can run many other games perfectly
with great screen res and lots of fps.

GP4 is fine on dual or quad core, but you also need to upgrade your graphics card if you want much better performance, as I'm not convinced how much improvement you'll get with a new processor - the performance may still be limited by your graphics card.

Look at the GP4 Faq, I made a tutorial "How to build lower lods", here: [www.grandprixgames.org]

Updated 2 days ago, to make it simplier with 3D Photo Browser and Polygon cruncher. ;-)

Why is it sometimes when pressing "O" in game, the PO does not appear?
