This dont make sence!

Hi can any one make sence of this for me, im running GP4 at 1024 x 768
max everything [except mirrors], but ive tried all options, it recommends a frame rate of
approx 54 fps on the second test, but when i go in the game my PO is
about 150 to 180 most of the time so i use the fps slide bar & i have to set
it at about 22 fps just to keep the damm PO just below 100 fps & only
just, ive used just about every driver out there & no difference ive a fairly
hefty system and i sure was hoping for better perfomance than this, as
ive read on this forum some guys getting better on lower spec machines,
hope someone can shed some light on this matter as it baffles me!

My sons PC is 18mths - 2 yrs older spec than mine and it runs better.

Damned if I can figure out why !

I can make big changes from min to max settings and the fps suggested barely changes. PO like you it is always high unless fps is <23-24 fps

While my spec is half yours I stillexpected more - it runs all other recent games brilliantly. Just GP4 that struggles to keep up.

I hope the forthcoming patch (eventually) improve performance - but I wouldn't bank on it - I think they are struggling to make it work AT ALL on many systems and this will be their priority.

I only have a 32MB GF2, try these settings

800*600*16
car/track Gemoetry - med
Textures - med

main view - trackside objects
frame rate -30

lighting -on
enviro maps - static
bump map - on
reflections -high
shadows -highest

it looks great.

Try turning everything to off or low,and then work up from there eventually you will reach a compromise with Graphical delights and decent FPS,hopefully.

Take note that the PO seems to be affected by actually pushing the "P" button during Tests or racing which somehow decreases performance.

....which is why we use FRAPS to monitor our frame rates.

Don't worry steve, you'll manage to get it to work, I managed a compromise with a 500 mhz processor!!
