Could we have a rule like if the picture is bigger than, let's say, 800x600 for example, you'd need to post it as a thumbnail?

Not everyone has a widescreen 22' LCD-display.

I'd say 1024x768, almost everyone has a 17inch nowadays But good idea

maybe he meant other pictures or else he has exactly the 1024x768 resolution (and then you do miss a little bit of it)

Oh yes, 1024 would be okay, but this forum doesn't use 100% of the monitor width so the edges are cut off. So 800x600 would be better. It's much easier for eyes too!

And don't tell me to buy a bigger monitor.

You don't need to buy a bigger monitor. Resolution is not necessarily linked to monitor size.
