hi all,
this morning (27/6/02) i got another email from infogrames regarding my copy of GP4 not even starting let alone bugs. i'm at work at the moment so i can't test this till tonight so if n e 1 gets a chance to try this let us know the results...... and this is what they said...
Hello,
please try each of the following and come back to me with the results...
Shut down any other applications that you may have running on your system
such as screen savers, virus scanners, etc. Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and 'End
Task' everything apart from Explorer and Systray. To stop these programs
from being loaded at startup go to Start>Run, type 'msconfig' and press
enter. Change selection to 'Selective Startup' and uncheck 'Load startup
group items'
Turn down video hardware acceleration in the Windows control panel. Go to
Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced>Performance and slide the bar down
to none
Turn down sound hardware acceleration. Go to Control
Panel>Multimedia>Playback>Advanced Properties>Performance and slide the bar
to none
Try resetting your computer's video resolution to 640x480 with 256 colors.
Control Panel>Display>Settings
Make sure that windows is managing your virtual memory. Right click my
computer and choose properties, go to Performance>Virtual Memory. You may
also need to free up some space on your hard drive, most games will need at
least 100 mb of free space for virtual memory
Update your video card and sound card drivers and directx drivers. To find
out what version of directx you are running and the name and manufacturer of
your video card - go to Start>Run, type "dxdiag" and press enter. Directx
file details are on the first tab, video card details are on the 'display'
tab and sound card details on the 'Sound' tab. DirectX can be downloaded
from [
www.microsoft.com] and graphics and sound drivers are
available at your manufacturer's website (usually just the manufacturer's
name followed by .com)
