Hi all!

Everybody is talking about their framerates here. But I'd like to know before I run out to buy gp4, how much slower do you estimate gp4 compared with gp3?

What do you mean?

I presume you mean how much more powerful a system does it need. Basically, a 64mb gfx card is a must.

Hi Ronnie,

I`ve got GP4 and i run it on a Pentium II and a Pentium III and it runs too slow, so much in fact that i can`t play it. I`m sticking to GP3, i have all the add ons and it runs just fine. Its seems that they have made it impossible to play it unless you have the last spec PC. Do you think you will be able to run it on your PC?

Will GP4 work With my Radeon 16Mb DDR well? I have P4 1.6, 256 Mb RAM, 30 Gb disk?

Not well. Remember, minimum specs don't equal good performance, it just means it will work. As I said, you really need a 64mb card, eg GF3

Hello,

I'm running a PIII 900, Radeon 7500, 512 ram and a soundblaster 128 soundcard. GP4 runs at 25 frames per second at 1024x768, Full car models, full textures, low trackside geometry, low sound setting, cars only in mirrors ( I edited my f1graphics file to only show cars approx. 30 metres behind me). My PO stays below or at 100 during a race. It is around 100 to 120 at the start of races, depending on the track.

I can't attach my f1graphic file now as I'm at work, I'll post it later if you guys need it...

intel(R)chipset810

and i runs better than gp3. i run gp4 at:800x600 althings meddium(excluding reflections and shadows)at 20fps and it never goes over 80po(i have all objects in view and have cars only in mirors.i have track geo and car geo set to high and pit crew to heighest.dont worry mate if it will run ok on my comp itll run like a dream on yours

Thats so weird, mike. I've got a PIII 800, 400MB RAM, GeForce 2 MX 400 64MB. Win XP pro

I run it on 1024x768 at max. 17fps, cars on high, the rest on medium, heat haze, mirrors and videowalls off and the PO is all the time over 100. about 100 without crowd, in race with crowd on the start/finishline 140%!
I've sound settings on low, but I think my soundcard is bad, its on the motherboard and not on the PCI!

Mike, I'm really confused. I just can't see how / why it runs that well! It is rather odd. However, doesnt matter why, just as long as it does.

Yeh, maybe a little bith more detail!
But you should really buy a good gfx card, your processor and RAM memory are fine! So when you get a GeForce2 MX400 64mb (quite cheap) the runs very good! A good cpu is of course very important in gp4 but a good gfx card is way more important!!!

But look, my problem is that my computer is a notebook! I also have a desktop but it's a Celeron 466 :-(, 64 Mb RAM :-(, 10 Gb, Intel 810 Chipset. I'm waiting for a new computer...

Hi People !

I have >

AMD AThlon 850 Thunderbird
ASUS A7V Pro+ Motherboard
128 MB SDRAM 133mhz
Riva TNT2 Pro 32MB
SB 128 PCI
Win 98

The graphic settings >

25 FPS
Track geom.> LOW
All object are ON
Mirrors >just cars
Reflection > HIGH
Textures > HIGH
Bump mapping > ON
Advanced Lightning > ON
Shadows > HIGH
Environment > DYNAMIC
Sound effects > as low as possible

... and the PO runs above 100 only at Indianapolis at the finish line and only at start. If its raining, this is the same.

And You HHAAVVE MMUUSST !!! DEFRAG !!! It means about 20 - 30% decrease in PO.

And in Windows you have to set the hardware acceleration off.

I see everyhwere that by turning the sound accel off from Control Panel will make GP4 run faster. That didn't wok for me. Instead I got huge delays in sound and a huge drop in performance. However is much faster if GP only used 2d acceleration. But anyway the performance is quite low, considering the system I run on:
P4 2.0 GHz
256 DDR 2100
Geforce 4 Ti4400 with 128MB overclocked
SBLive

The framerate with Quincunx AA is about 24.

I would say it's low, wouldn't you?

ive heard that xp runs games nuch slower than win 98 so think this is why many people are having speed probs as ive already told that mine runs as buitiful and as smooth as my ars

To be honest, to play with a constant frame rate (even at the start) stick with good old gp2 for no frills graphics, but top racing simulation, AI is superb, no CC's pissing you off when you lap them etc..
Only my opinion of course. I'm not even going to bother buying GP4 due to the negative feedback I've been reading on this forum..

Well I have a Pentium III 600 with 256meg SDRAM, a GeForce2 MX 32meg video card a 7200rpm HDD and a hardware accelerated sound card (Sound Blaster Live!). I can honestly say with all detail on the max with 1024 x 768 i can get 26 frames.

I dunno why so many are having problems. It runs fine on my crap machine.
