GP4 not working on vista!!

hi im new but i am in need of help, i have GP4 and have recently bought a new pc with vista.

i installed GP4 on it but when i click the logo it just crashes and doesn't work, does anyone know how i can solve this problem?

I have heard you need to allow it to run in admin rights or something, do this by right clicking on it and then then properties or summats.

I don't have any mods or anything on it, at current its just a normal copy.......

I`m not sure but you can`t use the original GP4 with windows vista .
But there are MODs that allow you update the game from 2001 season ( original ) to 2007 season and other news of 2008 season .
But you have to learn how deal with this . Looking for answers in teh FAQs section which there is in all GP4 sites .

mine worked fine when I installed it...I didn't had to do anything really...but download no-cd patch and try then.download also gpxpatch and maybe official patch.

Hi Steve. In your desktop, just right click the gp4 icon and go properties - compatibility tab - go to "run this program in compatibility mode with" - choose windows xp.

ok i have finally got it working but when i race the on screen telemetary is just blank white boxes and the rear of the cars where the light should be is blank aswell

and i went to install the patch and its saying grand prix 4 is not installed on this pc !

Since you can already run the game, I suggest you uninstall and re-install it again to have a clean installation. Try running it again with no patches or mods yet. Just the basic game. Once stable you can start using these patches later.

Test also if possible.. Install GP4 on a regular Windows XP computer. Run the game one or two times, then copy the hole game and put it on you Vista comp. It worked for me

I use Vista so GP4 works fine....

1-First of all, install a clean GP4 program ( as said above, you have to run this program in compatibility with windows XP)

2- Install the patch 9.6

3- install the no-cd patch

4- Install gpxpatch

Finally, run the program with Gpxpatch...

It should be ok ;o)

Hi! I have the same problems with Vista 64bit. Havent been able to play GP4 since igot a new computer. Anyone got an idea? I followed the advices from Excalibur but no luck sadly. Really interested to try the eighties mods. They look stunning.

I just got a new laptop with Windows 7. I installed the program from original CD. I set it up with an icon on the desk top. I clicked on the GP4 icon, the program started without any problem. After I ran the game, I then added the patch 9.6, then nocd patch, and installed GPxpatch and then Zaz's tools for CSM/TSM (carset manager and track set manager). Game runs fine on my new laptop. Should work on you new PC as well.

I tried a new install and followed step by step. Still dont work. Any more ideas or should i give up?

32 or 64? Have you set the compatibilties of the exe files? Have you installed DX9 off the disc?

64bit. Yes they are set to XP Servicepack 2. No, i have DX10 installed, GP4 comes with DX 8.1 Which version should i install?
