Driving as a rookie (with a keyboard)in wet weather conditions is ""driving me crazy""....it feels i'm riding on ice...(even with traction controle on). I downloaded mod 2006 and track pack 2007, 'beautiful tracks but no driving line visible? (F5) Any suggestions?

The best line is not the CC-Line, but a line thay is built into the .gp4 file. So new tracks just delete this as it would be a waste of time to remake it. If the CC-Line could be made into a driving line (GP4Builder) somehow then ne tracks would have it.

I have abandoned the idea to drive in wet condition with keyboard because you can control the throttle.

It's almost impossible to drive in the rain with a keyboard?!

I have the same problem, what helps is driving with manual gears (neither very easy you need to use a lot of fingers ;)) , than you can short shift, which avoids your wheels to spin due to less grip and high revs. You can keep the revs low and shift before the wheels start to lose grip and spin.

And it helps to tab the throttle key frequently, instead of pushing it once and keeping it down.

Why dont we make 1 small race contest in wet.
I put the weather seed and the rest we choose the track.
And when we are done we post here our result along with the race file.
Its just an idea.

Cheers :)

sounds good, what about physics file - use standard?

With a good set up and traction control it's not difficult to drive in wet conditions (with keyboard), even in ace level. You just need to work on the set up and you'll see: it's much more funny than in dry conditions.

Stratcarse....

In ace level? Wow..i even experience major problems to drive in rookie level. How do you fix that with keyboard? Could you give me some good tips or could you send me a setup for one track only (wet weather setup)...then i maybe could notice the difference? Thanks

I re-installed the original gp4 to try wet conditions in ace level (cause each mod has its particular physics and perf). I made the pole in montreal with 100% wet probability with this setup:

Wings: 20-20
Brake Balance: 44.625 - 55.375
Gears: 17 - 23 - 29 - 36 - 43 - 50 - 58

Advanced Set Up
antiroll bar: 0 - 0
springs: 1040 - 740
height: 40 - 59
???: 16 - 16
???: 2 - 2
???: 2 - 2
???: 17 - 8
???: 17 - 8

Diff: 6 - 6
5 - 5

Sorry for the ???, I don't remember what is it (or I can translate)

To drive on wet conditions the main idea is to have the wings on the max, more brake on the rear than for dry cond, soft springs and play with the differential balance if you have trouble to accelerate.

I remember that fot the 2006 mod it was a little bit more difficult to drive in wet cond because of the physics of the mod. I don't think I was able to make the pole in it, but in rookie it should be easy.

Hope it will help

Sorry for the english, bye

It depends on what track you put max wings or not.
Example like you mention in canada I would never put max wings because of the straights, you cant ignore it because you can improve a lot.
The true thing is a compromise between max wing and a loose car with low wing usally thats the best combination.
All this i say as a several Gp4 Leagues Race Driver Champion.

@jcaranti:
It's true montreal is a fast track and max wings might not be the best set up. Anyway I didn't really work on the set up I gave and I'm sure it can be improve a lot. What I wanted to do is to explain the kind of set up you need for wet conditions, not give the best set up (that doesn't exist, cause also depends of the driver). The thing is that I usually put more wings for qualif than for race, cause in qualif I prefer to be fast in the turns whereas in race I don't want to be overtake cause of to much wings (again it depends of the track).

@pontini:
I use the 2006 mod with the default physics of this mod, but I changed all the perf datas, so now my ace level isn't the orignal. I'm gonna look my set up for wet conds in this mod cause I think I spend a lot of time to find a "drivable" set up.

As mentioned in my previous mssgi'm a rookie and new in gp4, how can i change perf datas in mod 2006? And how can i add my own name, car, teamart, helmet in the game?

Well, I'm not sure it's the good topic, but as I'm new in this forum I don't know where you'll find the explanations. I could have give you a link if you speak french!!!

Anyway, for perfs you have two ways:
- right click on the mod (in CSM), change average perfomance level (can't change a name with that)
- go in Infogrammes\Grand Prix 4\Gpsaves\carsets\"name of the mod"\data, here you'll find the datas use by CSM, to change cars, helmets, cockpits, performances, tyres, visors, teamart it's all there. Perfs are in a .txt so it's easy to edit.

@gardaret: [gp4facile.xooit.com]

In fact there isn't a lot of explanations, just try some changes in the folders I mention and if you have problems post here or in the linked forum, I'll answer you.
