i've been playing on nascar 2002 and one of the main that struck me (apart from the other drivers) was that during the course of a race, rubber gets laid down at the entry points to the braking zones and mid corner ( where i or the other cars miss the braking point)

and also the racing line gets dirtier too, the attention to detail in this sim is awesome, you can see stress fractures in the tarmac.

That tarmac does look pretty damn good, it has to be said. But I'd hardly say the tarmac in those Gp4 screenies looks bad! I'm sure we can rely on old Geoff to deliver a fantastic game...

I wonder if Geoff ever looks at some of these forums? He could take some ideas

if you look at the comparisons in track detail, you can see for yourself the difference, nascar has more detail,

if papyrus did a f1 game, with the way that they can create a driving model as good as GPL, and the graphics and attention to detail of nascar 2002, i think that papyrus's version would probably be even better than crammonds versions, and at least with a papyrus game, you get everything inc.

nascar 2002 has animated pitcrew, pit to car radio, safety car, red, yellow, black flags, formation lap, photo realistic graphics, proper sampled engine sounds, and yoiu even get the bloke on the radio telling you which side is safe to take when overtaking a backmarker, if your blindspotted he tells you to stay higher or lower when banking a corner so you don't have an accident, and 43 players able to race online in anyone race, things like this make the game even better.

now don't get me wrong, i'm a massive crammond fan and gp3 fan, but when i saw this nascar game and how its put together with such attention to detail, i felt pissed off with the way we've been made to wait and wait for what we want, over 3 games really, and had to pay 3 times for the privildge.

and even then the games only really got better because of the talents of the authors of gpxpatch and R,H's carsets and then you have bruno's tracks.

so if i seem stupid at wanting the textures of the track to look this good, its only because i take the attitude, "if *insert name* can do it this good, then why not crammond?"

i want gp4 to be the ultimate,

hmm, driving round in circles must get boring after a while :D

But, seriously, somehow they manage to pull you back and drive roun a bit more. Not as much as GP3 or MOH thought

I just finished playing the demo, and did'nt realise that with steering help switched on lessened the forcefeedback experience, i switched steering help off.

WOW is all i can say about the driving model, the forcefeed back is with out a doubt the best i've ever experienced, its just fantastic.

you say that driving round in circles is boring, and i agree, but its a challenge in its self just keeping the damn car on the track whilst practising, nevermind in heated battle of race conditions, its £19.99 when its due out, and i for one will be buying this game, Fantastic!

these are in-game shots too

Those may not be the final graphics detail. For all we know those pics could be with the tarmac settings set to low. But i would like FULL pit to car radio, with us able to press a button to tell the team we are coming in (ie return in GP3) and the team will acknowledge it by saying something etc

But you must think of how much work Geoff has to do and how much work Nascar 2002 team has to do.

GP4:
1.) Model several carshapes

2.) Model every track, detail, .....

3.) All F1 "thingies" (flags, failures,....)

Nascar 2002:

1.) Model a car and them modify it for other teams

2.) Model 1 oval and then modify it (oh cmon, modelling a track like that is easy for professionals)

3.) All Nascar "thingies" (crashes hehe)

I mean, Geoff has a lot more work to do, EA (who made nascar?) has a lot easier work to do. Example: in 1 year Geoff would make all the tracks and models, while EA would be already fixing minor bugs ... so you can't compare GP4 in this stage vs. Nascar...
