How to make alphas darker???

Hi, I'm back with a problem again. My cars are always too shiny, I think it's because of the alphas. I use GIMP to make tga with alpha, but don't know, how to make the alpha layer darker. Can anybody help me, please?

You have to make the alpha layer in a dark grey to give the car less shine
