Yes, it should and it should be highlighted at the portal of this site.

Jimbob told that everybody can host the demo so all go ahead we didn't say it was exclusive for gpg forum or gp4world ??????

The GP4DEMO is freely available for any site to host if they wish to do so. The new demo thread is linked from the GP4FAQ sticky.
I'll talk to Stephan later about a link on the home page.
I removed the other thread due to the fact that it was no longer on-topic.
Unofficial and unauthorized are pretty much the same thing in my opinion. I won't get into an argument over semantics. I'm sure the majority of people that will download this for a look-see won't care one way or the other. They will only want to know if it will run on their system, then they can make an informed decision on whether or not to hunt down a copy.
By making a demo available, we are not promoting warez.
If people wish to download a torrent, we cannot prevent them from doing so. But when we find out they have, they usually get little support from the members of this community.

i only have one problem, the forum members here are so blatently against leeching by any one outside this side, but when someone here makes what is technically leacher work, ie this so called demo (when there is already an official demo around, though hard to find) not a single negative word is posted. its the same with some modded gp4 tracks, ie 2006 monza, modded from original track, but instead of releasing an updater 'patch' to the track or a scratch built track, the author released what he modded from the original authors work, without asking permission (leaching!!!!!).
As far as im concered from now on anyone can modify anyones gp4 work (cars, tracks, whatever) and release them for download.
Too the loser who started the thread about the czech gp4 site leaching.... give a little, get a little. your part of this site, and i bet you promote the leached ricardo lambert tracks and demo. I wonder how geoff crammond feels about his work being leeched. Im going to try to get in contact with him IN PERSON by phone. If he is ok with it, then so be it, but still i wonder if the demo authors even thought about contacting him for permission.

demo is kind of an mod... every kind of modding is MODifying Jimbob just modded gp4, like many others have done, try to do and will do. He just modded different aspect of the game and for different reason than others, that doesent make him an criminal. If he tries to sell it on ebay, thats the point when it comes illegal.
but in another hand, im not an expert in issues like this, to tell you the truth i have no idea if its illegal or not, im just quessing.

btw, nice idea this demo thingy.

and dkpioe, when you call to mr. crammond, ask the source code will you :P

Seems there is only one person with a problem and that seems to be you trying to cause problems, fights, discussion, ... not only in this thread but also in others. Take your fights to somewhere else instead of here please it will be much appreciated :-)

are you sure an official demo exists? isn't its non-existence the very reason why one was created?

As far as I know, Infogrames never released any official demo (at least not before EU release and I'm pretty sure it wasn't released after either).
