WGP/W300 Rules update

Season 3 WGP/W300 Rules.

Team Transfers:
A team owner may transfer his existing team from either the
W300 to the WGP or from the WGP to the W300 on the proviso that
the team owner does not already own a team in the series he
wishes to transfer to. This rule is designed to prevent team owners
from owning more than one team in any one series.

Team Sales & Transfers:
Teams may be sold off or ownership transferred at any time throughout
either series.

Team ownership:
A team owner may own teams in either series.
A team owner in one series may drive for another team in the same
series or for a team in another series.
A driver in one series may own a team in another series,
or own a team in the series he/she drives in.
A team owner is allowed to drive in one of his/her own team.

Drivers and transfers:
Transfers can only be completed if the individual drivers
contract permits the transfer.
The Race Director and Race Steward require one race
notification of driver transfers and changes.
Drivers must supply the the relevant series Race Director with their helmet.
Drivers transferring from one series to another will have a perf adjustment:
WGP to W300 drivers perf multiplied by 1.001
W300 to WGP drivers perf divided by 1.001
A driver cannot test for another series, as he/she cannot have two sets of perf numbers.
A test driver, cannot test for another series, as he/she cannot have two sets of perf numbers.
Team owners are allowed a total of three driver changes throughout a season.
Rotations of test drivers and race drivers cannot be allowed due to the excessive workload required
updating the wad for each race/test session. Any test driver-race driver rotation will be considered
as part of the allowance of driver changes per team per season.

Engine Rules:
The WGP/W300 allows teams to use any engine.
Engine BHP is capped at 920Q,940R
New team entries will use 780,800,1000

Livery and advertising:
A car may advertise tobacco sponsorship.
Livery updates are at the discretion of the Race Director.

Car numbers & Pit garages:
Numbers are decided by the Drivers Championship.
All cars must display their numbers, on the car nose and on the rear wing end-plates.
Pit-lane slots are decided by the Constructors Championship.
Team owners are encouraged to supply pit-crew, garage and pitbox for inclusion to the series.

Carshapes:
W300: The S3 carshape is by Snake Motorsports, download the carshape from the W300 website.
WGP: Two carshapes are available from Snake Motorsports for Season 3.

Tyres:
W300: Bridgestone have renewed the contract.
WGP: Teams choice of tyre supplier permitted.

The Calendar:
17 races, posted at the start of the season.
From S3 the W3GP and the W300 will use the same calendar.

Drivers championship points system WGP/W300:
30 points for race win.
25 for second.
20 for third.
19 for fourth.
18 for fifth etc.
1 point awarded for 22nd place.
No points will be awarded for a DNF.
Drivers points are added to the perf and subtracted from the failure.

WGP/W300 points system for teams:
Total driver points are subtracted from the failure range.
Total driver points are divided by four, then added to the BHP.
No further points are added to the BHP once the engine cap is reached.
See WGP/W300 Engine rules for engine cap details.

The current WGP/W300 Starter perf for new drivers & teams:
[Team #00]
Name=XXXXXXXXXXX
Performance=780,800,1000
First Driver=21,Driver XXX,16020,600,16050,600
Second Driver=22,DriverYYY,16020,600,16050,600

At the end of the WGP/W300 season:
All existing teams failure numbers are reset to 1000
All existing driver failure numbers are reset to 600
Driver performance formula reset.
Example:
First Driver=3,Josh Rayman,16443,600,16493,600 <-end season perf
minus starter perf Qualify 16020 = First Driver=3,Josh Rayman,423,
Divide by 5 = First Driver=3,Josh Rayman,84,
Add to season starter perf = First Driver=3,Josh Rayman,16104,
add 30 to race perf.
First Driver=3,Josh Rayman,16104,600,16134,600 <-new season starter
perf
Team performance formula reset.
Constructors Championship points are divided by 22, then added to the season starter perf.
Example:
Team Orange 657 constructor points /22 = 30
add to season starter perf = Performance=810,830,1000 <-new season starter
perf.

Protests:
Teams and drivers have 24 hours after the race results have been posted to notify
the Race Steward of any dispute or protest.
A known AI issue is two drivers from the same team pitting at the same
time. This has caused the teams pit crew to take an unscheduled lunch break
and effectively shut down pit lane for everyone else. In this instance points are
awarded by the Race Steward based on the drivers positions before the first stop
of the race or at the last known time of positions.

Race Directors/Race Steward:
The Race Directors are the most important members of the series:
They compile the wad, they run the races, they post the screenshots
and the all important results.
No dispute over the race can be entered into after the race has
been run and the the results have been posted. The Race Directors/Race Stewards
results are final and binding.
It is from these results that the Race Steward compiles the perf files.

Cool and well organized. The only thing I'd alter is engine power, starting at 750 and capping at 900 (for race), as otherwise the fast guys get too fast. "Slower" cars would create closer racing, I believe. Good stuff.

middle ages torture on him? ;)

I understand your point of view Gui, if my memory serves me correctly, the perf numbers quoted gave us semi-realistic lap-times. Also, those numbers allow teams to attain the BHP engine cap midway through the second half of the season. Reducing the starter perf would push back that situation perhaps by two races. Tom and I have been taking note of the differences between S1 and S2 and as we predicted there has been further fine tuning to the way we do things. So there is a method in our madness :-)
This season I'd like to see csm sets for both series released asap. If that happens, it will be more incentive for participants to become Race Directors, therefore reducing the heavy workload on Tom, Maikel and Byron. Making it available for download would see the series being promoted to a wider audience and in general benefiting GP4 and this website. That means that all teams and drivers should submit their S3 liveries and helmets asap. Which reminds me, I need a helmet as I'm testing for Tom ;-)
Also, if anyone would like to assist with the perf reset job for either series please contact me. I will supply end of season perf, the formula, and team/driver standings and the S3 grid entry list.
Thanks pit-lane out :-)

Oh that reminds me, once I get the go ahead from Kyran I'll upload this season's CSM set.

And Mal, I've already worked out next season's perfs for the drivers I know ;-)

That's great news about the csm set, send me what perfs you have thanks :-)

If the new shape isn't available because Snake Motorsports went up in flames, we can use the current one. The rules state there's an S2 shape on the W300 website but I couldn't find the link, I reckon someones got one somewhere. The factory rebuild isn't that far away, and S3 start is Friday prac Nov 2nd. We have time up our sleeve :-) I recommend that we use the S2 shape until 4th Nov. By then we'll have our S3 shape, debut at Spa for the Christmas Race. After that only driver changes will be allowed. The Press will keep us all up to date on what's going on. ;-)

Interesting stuff

The Press, your very reliable news source, has two important things to mention. First, the Snake Motorsports Factory went up in flames. The local fire department was able to stop the fire, but a vast amount of the factory is hardly more than ash now. Rumours go that there is a damage of 119 million dollars, we're lucky that the dollar ain't worth @#$%& now, so that's roughy 59 million pounds or 86 million euros. Still, that's a large amount of money and the worst thing is, the new shape has been lost. It was near to completion. Luckily, designer Maikel de Boer has got the plans, so he can still build a new shape. There is a great chance that releasing the shape will be postponed until there are enough shapes available for all teams.
Maikel de Boer himself wasn't available for comments, he was in a crisis meeting with his other friends in high places.

We do not yet know how long it will take to release the shape and rebuild the factory. Sources say it will be ready before the new season commences.

And that's the second point The Press wants to mention. In the traditional Christmas-race contructors and drivers will be able to score points. That is for both W300 and WGP. So it is not a practise race like it used to be.
