Before I upgrade, I just want to know if there is any issues to GP4's performance with the latest 512mb graphics cards?

Just tries a quick race on original Magny-Cours track and everything runs fine on a 3500+ and a 7900GTX 512Mb at 1600*1200, 54fps, PO around 30 all the race with every details at max but heat haze.

The 3500 is a single core, yes?

jpmfw, are you running it with a dual core cpu? I know there is a fix for this, with gpxpatch, but I am a little worried about how my other racing sims will act with the dual core (GPL, F1C, etc.)

I may wimp out and get a Athlon 64 FX-57 single core AMD. Although I believe 'Bigbrother' is running a dual core with great result.

Meh you'll be fine, Core 2 Duo ones wont screw anything up, and the AMD sure as hell wont. Only if you get *twitch shudder* Generation 1 Intel dual core *twitch shudder* will you have any problems, namely severe overheating and random shut down if you dont have proper cooling :P

I'm running GP4 with a Core 2 Duo 2.40/ ATI X1900XTX system; I'm no expert, but it runs really well.

Duncan Idaho and MJ2006, Is everything set to high? What is your FPS and PO at the start of races?

Everything is set to high or highest, no heat haze (haven't really noticed a difference when its on anyway), and my PO at the start hovers between 40 and 50 (using the 2006 Mod).

However, I believe I haven't used the best f1graphics.cfg tweaks yet. I've downloaded one from gpitalia and was using it, but put in a few tweaks myself. I have no idea yet, just trial and error right now.

[Edit] After putting anti aliasing on (on 16), at the start of some of the original tracks the PO jumps in between 90 and 12 pretty rapidly. (with all other details in the options are on max, and 52 fps). I will try out some more.

I don't know why, but everytime I edit the f1graphics.cfg file and play GP4, it resets when I start it up again. Annoying. Guess I'll set it on read only.

Did you build it yourself, or purchase it online(your PC)?

I built it myself using parts that were recommended/researched myself. I skimped in some areas though.

After some more editing of the f1graphics file, I got it to 100 PO in most parts of the track. I basically enabled most of everything in sunny conditions. I don't want to see what will happen when it rains :(

[edit] After more editing and turning practically everything on (reflections of track elements on the car and helmet, video walls, everything), PO jumps to 300 :/. What kind of PC do they expect you to have lol?
