Monza pre-2000 layout?

Hello.

I'd just like to know if a pre-2000 Monza layout track has been made, or is being made, as I prefer the "old" double 1st chicane over the newer version.

Thanks.

It's pre-2000 - that was the first year with the new chicane.

If we are lucky we may see a 1995 version of Monza in the not too distant future....

Now:

1995-1999:

1995 Monza :

Notice the left/right/left chicane at the end of the main straight.

Notice the left/right/left chicane at the end of the main straight.

Starting with the 2000 race that chicane was changed to this:

Of course the track has been changed in many ways over the years: some corners tightened to give longer run off areas, chicanes added, and back in the early 60's F1 raced on the banked oval that is still there but has been abandoned.

That was the same banked oval they used in the movie "Grand Prix"......

Sorry nickv, I didn't see your post!

I wonder if anyone has good photos or videos of the 1995 track, showing advert placements and stuff?

Martin Brundle is always going on about the 2nd Lesmo, how it used to be a lot more open and faster, but now it's been sanitised into a basic 90 degree right-hander, so maybe that is something to change back in a 1995 version?

Nope, according to racingcircuits the open 2nd Lesmo was last used in 1993. It changed in 94 and again in 95 to what we have today.

ah, nevermind, i'd be happy with the track we have now with just the 1st chicane changed to the double left-right.

gp2 and gp3 might give you some idea about that (94 and 98).

here's a 1991 video

what was apparently controversial about schumacher's switch from jordan to benetton?

also 91

Oh yer and the start finish straight used to be much wider - now they've put lots of adverts on it :(

Schumacher drove for Jordan at Spa leaving a good impression on the paddock.
Flavio manouevred to get Schumacher in a Benetton and made him sign a contract. Eddie Jordan said Schumacher already had a contract with Jordan. not too sure on who has a contract or who had it with Schumacher first since Wili Weber dealt with everything.
the FIA decided in favour of Benetton. they ended up droping Roberto Moreno and sticking Schumacher in the car with a multi-year contract while Moreno ended up driving for Jordan.
Eddie Jordan was angry to say the least.
In hindsight its one of Wili Webers best decisions as the 1992 Jordan was crap.
That said i think Weber as an agent ruffled a few feathers in the paddock as did Briatore.

I think thats the gist of it. although 1 or two parts may be wrong
