general problem of GP4 with stands / spectators

hi

is there any possibility to change this bug:

if you drive far away from the stands in front of you (e.g. at the starting line and you look at the Nordkurve in Hockenheim, or if you drive the first bend in Indianapolis), then the spectators are like STRIPES, and you can see the chairs. and if you move, the stripes begin to "flicker".

Am I really the only one who is disturbed by this? I didn't find a general stands-texture-file on the internet, nor a thread or posting which is about this bug. GP4 is just GREAT, but this flickering....

thank you if there is a solution!

Maybe no one else has complained because they dont have that problem :).

Are you using original tracks and is your graphics config set up correctly?

hi

yes, it's with original tracks, but also for example with F.A.C. Mod oder MarioB's Hockenheim.
well, in the graphics config I changed a lot already, but it also remains exactly the same.
by the way: it's the same with or without the official patch.

PS: i have a radeon 9250

ok, now I posted my problem on a german game forum, but only so that you here can have a look on the screenshot there:

there you can see the stripes and the chairs, and if you drive you see it much better and it flickers..........

THANK YOU IF THERE IS A SOLUTION!!!

no i don't think it has something to do with the draw distance, because i've setup my the value to the highest level and there are no changes

I tested few things with 3dEditor and Texresizer but i can't fix problem. In my opinion only way to solve this problem is delete all chair objects. :(

I don't think that flickering problem is config/hardware based, it's one of GP4 bugs.

is it not a clipping problem?

I changed clipping distance values both of objects and i also group Crowd object to Chairs object but without any good results. (I solved all advert and fence clipping problems with grouping objects together in my Melbourne'06 track.)

I also converted crowd textures from DXT5 to DXT1+Semi transp. but without any success. :(

If i am right GP4 was not for 100% completed when it was released, for example Hockenheim: The mobil ads in the motodrome part are very bad mapped and in the mainstand at s/f there is a little spot where there are no spectators at all.

hey TTM where do I download your montreal 05
What also sucks is when you ad new ads to a track you get also clipping/flickering/transparency problems, i f*ckin' hate that. :(

thank you for all your ideas. well, perhaps it's really that you can't fix this GP4-Bug.
but if it's so: why doesn't appear this problem for ALL (e.g. not for Willb)? perhaps there is though a problem of config?

@ TTM: what if you deleted all chairs? I mean if I see the spectators, then I don't have to see the chairs? that would be a good solution for me.
It's a proximity problem. GP4 draws both objects, and because the stands are right on top of the stand's chairs, GP4 draws them both at the same time and they interfere. A possible solution could be to set the clipping distance much later than that of the stand, so have the stand drawn from say, 500m away, but have crowds drawn from much closer, say, 250m. Now while this may look bizzarre, it ought to fix the problem
